Re: Knock of of Pirates of the Caribbean

Everyone wants to be Walt. Yep claribella, a total cheese and creackers version. But isn't copying the sincerist version of flatery? (my spelling sucks, deal with it)

But don't those places just make you laugh so hard at how everyone tries to be Disney? My favorites was at the Arizona State Fair a few years ago and the had a Haunted House ride (which, of course, completely stunk) but they had the nerve to play the Haunted Mansion soundtrack outside.

I've been to Zara Dreamland and several other "rip-off" Disneylands (and even a rip-off Epcot complete with a smaller Spaceship Earth) in my travels around the world over the decades. They're always lots of fun to visit.

Ok looking at those pictures...I feel like I've entered Bizzaro's world...or like an alternate dimension...very strange indeed.

I think most people would be surprised at how many whole parks are out there in the world that are direct rips of Disney. No question they would have been sued into oblivion if they existed here in the United States or in other countries where International Copyright laws are enforced.

Even in some of the countries where copyright laws are now enforced...I think some of these parks are allowed to continue to do business because they existed before the stricter copyright enforcement laws came into effect. "Grandfathered" so-to-speak.
That's just messed up... The comentary that the guy put along with those pictures was priceless! Very funny

Six Flags isn't closing. I know personally a higher-up person who gets rather annoyed by this vicious rumor

Mimicing is the greatest form of flattery, but there's got to be a limit...and a lot of these parks, IMO, have past it.

Yeah. That's exactly why I picked that particular web site to link to. He said it better than I could.

You can find other web sites on Nara by simply Googling it. On those other sites you'll see some more photos (like of the Peter Pan knock-off ride) that that person didn't include.

Yep. It's even worse than it seems. Which of course is what makes it a total hoot to visit in person.

Of course they do, and they will defend it vigorously. However, generally speaking, you can't copyright and IDEA.

However, I would imagine there would be enough evidence here to suggest that this is deceptively similar (the name; the scenes; the props) to warrant some kind of legitimate action on Disney's part.

Even so, it is quite amusing.

Do you think that they might have picked up some of those pieces from a Imageneer having a garage sale in the early 70's ???

Oh my gosh! That was creepy -- I didn't see anyone else there. How can it stay open? I didn't even see any employees. So bizarre. Thanks for the link!

ditto on the creepiness. it's like a vision of Disneyland gone wrong, if it were neglected for several decades. Scary.

I've seen these peoples' reviews before! has someone here linked to them, or did I find one of their reviews through coasterradio.com?
