So you want to be a Disneyland Sub Captain?

While surfing the web, I came across the following on
http://matterhorn1959.blogspot.com/2...ne-voyage.html . It's the operations manual for the submarine voyage.

    Growing older is manditory
    Growing up is however, optional

That's awesome! I love reading the Operating Manuals. I could so totally get into a character like that. Thanks for posting that.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

That has to be one of the coolest things I have seen here in a long time. What an awesome find. Thanks Oogie for sharing, I would love to see more of this kind of stuff here.

    Wow. That's very cool.

I was struck by the straight-forward, honest and blunt language used in that manual. Concepts like "rigid adherence to operating procedure" and such are not used in todays world with todays 20 year old kid. If you did try to use that language and those expectations, they'd unplug their Ipod, look you up and down, and go get a job at Starbucks instead.

And that goes for the paying customers as well. In todays world, many people want to be treated special, they have an excuse why they shouldn't have to put up with the long line or the standard requirements, and they want the employee to bend the rules for them and pretend that the customer is always right. "Rigid adherence to operating procedure" doesn't apply to them because they came all the way from San Jose, or its their birthday, or the fried chicken was dry at the Plaza Inn, or they have a Premium Annual Pass with the parking option added on.

Disneyland was a very, very different place 40 years ago. If they tried to run it today like it was run in 1966 half the CM's would quit in one week and the customer complaint line at City Hall would snake into Frontierland.

I wonder if they have had any trouble with broken portholes at all? Interesting to see how they handle it. Anbody know of any stories, besides guests leaving diapers in the Sub?
