I like Badge B! But I don't want to get anyone into trouble so I will go with what the majority (or those in the legal know how) decide.

Hi! I have been reading the threads for a long time now and FINALLY decided to register. I live in northern CA and am going to be down in DL for the REAL 50th. I would like to meet all of you that will be there. I have worked in a Disney Store for almost 7 years now and I am a total Disney nut. My family is sure that I need professional help.
I still am not to sure how to work the site as far a pics and signatures, but I will figure it out sometime. Computer literate I am not.
I love the idea of MICECHAT name badges. Count me in!

If there's anything illegal on this, I'll eat my other, less expensive, non-DarkWing hat:

Nah, that one's safe. I wasn't criticizing your previous work, drnilescrane, I was just pointing out any possible legal reprocussions since some people mentioned their concern of such a thing. We wouldn't want anybody to get into a heap of trouble over such a seemingly harmless thing. Nice artwork.

Isn't this the same print/type they use in Tomorrowland?
What is the legal take on that?

I went to Homo Depot and got one of those Mickey icon paint selections.
My choices are: Socerer's Hat, Mouse Ears, or Never Land. Although I did try and pick up one of each color.

No, it's the font Anna. I downloaded it from Visions Fantastic. If it is in any way related to the Park, I realy dont care.

I have the same font downloaded to my computer. There were a whole bunch on Visions Fantastic! Was it a package deal? I don't remember? Anyway I like all the work you have been putting into this. I look forward to meeting and talking with other MiceChatters on the 17th (or sooner).

According to copyright law, you can't copyriright a font or lettering style. If you could, you'd be copyrighting the letters themselves—in essence, the entire alphabet, punctuation, and numbers. That means we'd owe someone a huge wad of $$$ in royalties for every letter we typed. You can copyright the font file, the digital data that stores the font information.

There are certain instances when a lettering style can be protected, such as in a logo (i.e. the famous Disneyland blackletter style). But in those cases, I don't think the protection extends to an entire alphabet, just the letters used in a particular word you're protecting, and usually only when those letters spell out that particular word.

    Ok!

By the way the "configuration of a round head with round mouse ears attached" (Registratin No. 1760110) and any reproduction of said mark "falsely implies endorsement or sponsorship".

So technically, using the Mickey head is illegal.

And I vote for badge A, but I suppose there'a a bit of a conflict of interests there.

I voted yes for badges in the poll, but have the two final designs been decided? I have the gold badges already and would go with whatever the majority decided, but would like to have something that has the July 17 date too.
