    Re: Big News!!!!

Well my daughter is in the 1st grade, and I dont know all the days she has off, off the top of my head, but I can tell you she has at least 1-2 regular days off every month.

Actually, Veteran's Day isn't an "odd" holiday. It's national - all government offices, most banks, etc., are closed.

I went to school in the 70s-80s and we always had it off.

I'm not sure they are ODD holidays - but I do think that teachers should teach why they are recognized. So many kids , mostly teens (generally) are just out here having a good time because 'they have the day off' - YIPPEE. Yet, for decades upon decades soldiers - our veterans- fought so we could have Freedom, therefore in the trickle-down affect, allowing the kids to have the day off in the first place.

    Re: Big News!!!!

My husband and I were there today from 10:00-1:30. It wasn't soooo bad. Just depends what your expectations are and what you want to do. It was crowded. There were lots of long lines at places you don't normally see them but it was fun. The crowd was mostly out of towners, and not the usual amount of of APers from what I coudl tell. The APers were complaining a lot. The out of towners were just putting up with it more quietly. I mentioned in another thread that we expected the crowds. We had fun. We like people watching and I especially like the live music on crowded days. Today the Firehouse Five (is that what they're called?)asked me to dance, I was fanning the flames for "Too Darn Hot!"

We also hit Storybookland (all Christmasfied) and Star Tours.

    Re: Big News!!!!

Meh... my roomie just called and said it's miserable over there right now and the gates are still closed... I was planning on leaving shortly to record the IASW lighting ceremony and 'Believe in Holiday Magic', but I'm considering postponing til sunday... maybe then I can bring Phillip along as well since his AP won't be blocked out then.

I think the night might be better spent watching the end of .hack//ROOTS and starting the .hack//G.U. vol. 1 Rebirth PS2 game.

I'm not there, so the tourists are safe.

Always a busy weekend. Add on top of that, Disney has publicized this as the start of the Christmas season and you end up with huge crowds. I'll wait until next week to see the fireworks.

Good Night Nurse! That'll be worse.

What are all your predictions for Friday December 1? It's my birthday and my wife and I are taking our new baby boy to Disneyland for the first time that day.

I don't see it as being too bad of a day. It will be a regular Friday, but I think the regular Friday upswing of attendance (people get off work early, people just arriving on a weekend trip, etc.) will be a little steeper due to Christmas decorations.

Shouldn't be too bad. It is a week after Thanksgiving, so it is technically the off season. However, for the last few years, the entire holiday season has been busy on the weekends.

If you could go on Thursday instead, it would be a lot better

I've grown up in SoCal and I always got Veteran's Day off. And that's spanning LAUSD, East Whittier Schools, Hemet Unified, now (though at college) I see it at Redlands Unified.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, Friday is pretty etched in stone - another couple is coming with us as well - he and I have the same name AND same birthday! Go figure. So we have lunch reservations at Storytellers Cafe.

I'm sure we'll be fine. Again, thanks for the advice.

The parking structure is even closed. My parents ended up going after I warned them about what I read on here and the structure is full too so they're coming back home. LOL
