Hearing HM Music in the Splash Queue

This was something I planned to post about in a trip report for my trip back in May that I never got around to writing a trip report for...

When I was almost to the end of the line for Splash, as the line passed alongside the mountain wall, I thought I could faintly hear "Grim Grinning Ghosts" playing - the version from the end of the ride with all the ghosts singing. I had been on HM right before that, so I thought maybe I just had the song in my head. But as I listened closely, I became convinced that I was really hearing it. Has anyone else heard it? I had never heard it before this. Is it possible it's coming through the wall from the HM show building? (I'm not really sure where the HM show building is exactly, in relation to that part of the queue.) Or had the hitchiking ghosts followed me there?

It's very possible, unfortunately, I don't know what you mean by Passing the Mountain Wall...

In case you didn't notice. Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion are actually next to each other. By that I mean the show buildings. But if you were close to the Haunted Mansion ext, then there might be a good chance you've heard it. Or you might be hearing things in your head.

Ohhh ok you were at the very beginning of the line back towards HM now that makes sense. I thought you ment you were at the "end of the line" as in getting ready to board. My mistake.

Actually, wires can get crossed from time to time. When I saw HMH last January, the scarols stopped and then a brassy version of Zip-a-dee-doo-dah started playing from the 2nd floor balcony. So it can happen.

Actually, only a portion of the Haunted Mansion is underground, that being the Hallway to Limbo (walkthrough portion) and the Load Area.

If I'm not mistaken, the Splash and the Haunted Mansion show buildings are very close to eachother.

They are very close to one another. I think there is a link to pictures of the buildings on th HM page on Wikipedia. They just look like massive warehouses as well - funny.

Then if you were at the beginning (former Fastpass distribution location) you most definitely could hear it.

I'm pretty sure I was near the end of the line. It has been six months, but what I remember is being able to see the loading area when I heard it. Also, I took the Single Rider line, which went quickly at the beginning, so it was near the end when I was standing still long enough to notice the music.

Funny thing - last night I reviewed a regional production of Seussical: The Musical, which is mainly based around the story Horton Hears a Who. As Horton the elephant kept insisting he heard a voice from a speck of dust and everyone kept calling him crazy, I was thinking "I know just how you feel, Horton!" LOL.
