Its a good thing they dont listen to everything said on the boards or we'd have incredibly wonderful family friendly ideals such as adults only days, no strollers for kids, and alcohol on every corner, being implemented![]()

How much longer will it take
For the world to see.
We should learn to live
And simply let it be.

And I thought Trekkies were the mother of all Nerds!
Moi
i CAN prove it. Pressler wanted NO THEMED trach cans. Its HAPPENED at MK. They are now AAAL SOLID colors w. either a land logo or nothing at all. Pressler wanted NO THEMED costumes. Casual shirts w/ khakis. That happened at ALL WDW Attractions when FP was it own Dept. Do u know HOW bad khakis and a polo shirt looked at say Mansion or Tower? Pressler wanted NO THEMED merch. ie NO merch that corresponded to land. THIS has happeend at MK AND MGM. Its a DISNEY STORE/WoD in EVERY store. Presslers darling "We HAVE to run these rides to failure". When was the last time u EVER saw SPLASH, Thunder or SPACE closed?? Waitill MK hits 40. That will be VERY scary. When the Queen/Witch scene in SNOW WHITE cant even work properly u know theres a problem.
Ooooh! SNAP! ... I am really glad we didn't turn into Presslerland over here in Cali ...Originally Posted by OTownGuy

Well, if that is so true lets STOP seeing WDW 50th ads on the TV every hour and START seeing DL ads. Sorry, this makes me sick.... and thngs like this lead to that Regis and Kelly "fun"."This park, the original, is different from all the other Disney resorts," Ouimet said. "This one is special and I feel an obligation to maintain it in a vision that continues in the tradition of Walt Disney."
I don't fall for this (the "if there's anybody that likes to be in control of things public-message-wise, it's Disney" line that is). IF Disney really wanted to control what was out there they would do 2 things - hunt down the leaks and fire them. And yes, I am not stupid - I know this can not be done all the time, not even most of the time.. but it can be at least attempted. The reason there are sooo many leaks is that there is no fear at all -- I have never seen so many "leaks" with NAMES attached to them! Second - they would go after and shut down every site that had any sort of "Disney" and "MickeyMouse" or any other trademarked Disney item in the URL and shut them down. This is NOT a hard thing to do IF they had kept up on it. You start a site with Lego (for example) or any other Lego term in the URL and you WILL get a nice little letter from Lego very soon. I have seen this happen more than a few times. Disney does not care, and if they care about being "control of things" they are doing the worst job they possibly can do.Koenig said the fan Web sites, which also include laughingplace.com and miceage.com, sometimes drive Disney executives crazy.
"We have sources inside the company that leak secrets to us," he said, "and if there's anybody that likes to be in control of things public-message-wise, it's Disney."

Thunder was closed in Oct/Nov '03. (Well, you asked.)Originally Posted by OTownGuy
I believe it was closed before the DL accident, in case anyone's wondering.
Maybe they are in control, they plan leaks for publicity. Maybe they leave sites like this un-touched for free publicity purposes. If I was a company, and there was thousands of people obsessing over me on the internet, I'd let it be.Originally Posted by SoCalDude

Disney is good at brain washing...
They are the only company I know of that has Hundreds of Thousands of people hand over money, and the person handing it over feels good about it!![]()
The new non-theme painted trash cans started appearing in 1996 in World Showcase. Pressler was still the President of DL, not the Chair of Parks & Resorts (the position that gave him power over WDW). The polos and Kackies started at Epcot in the summer of 1995, they were originally called the FAC costume (Fountain Audience Control after the short lived Fountain show imported from TDL in innoventions plaza) and they spread out from there. Some of the polos and kaikies still have FAC written in them..again this was way before Pressler. The no themed Merch started at WDW in the mid-ninties based on Guest Satisfactiuon Mesurement studies which showed that guests wanted more plush (not that I agree with these studies, I think the results were skewed), agian well before Pressler. None of these are good things, of course, but they were put into effect long before Pressler. Now Pressler did try to change the opperations at WDW when he came into his position, he tried to cut maintanence drastlcally to the point he cut it at Disneyland. Al Weiss stood up and said, "No." Al probably should have said "no" more often to corporate, but that is another story...on this occasion he did good. After that, Pressler often said he let Al run WDW and did not get involved.Originally Posted by OTownGuy
Look, I understand what you are saying. Pressler-like behavior exisits at WDW, but I worked at WDW under Al Weiss and at DL under Paul Pressler. The difference was night and day. Al is not perfect, but the things you are talking about pale in comparison to the kinds of awful things Pressler did at Disneyland. Suggestive selling at merch and ODV, drastic cuts in maintance that led to Space Mtn being closed for two and one half years and a death on BTMRR. Nothing like this came close to happening at WDW.
Um, it was Pressler-land from 1995-2002. Pressler was the President of DL. He was never the President of WDW.Originally Posted by MiceMan
I don't understand what you are saying here. Space at WDW is two years older than DL's and both Thunders were built together. Are you suggesting that WDW will start falling apart at 40? The vast majority of attraction at WDW's Magic Kingdom are the same age at DL, the only difference is maintanence practices, and WDW has a lot of problems, but safty-based maintanence is not one of them.Originally Posted by OTownGuy
