    Question Matterhorn

I was at DLR on the 15th, and while on Alice In Wonderland I saw that they were running the bobsleds through the ride. I thought I read somewhere that they were going to be putting new bobsleds with a different design on, yet they looked the same to me.

Does anybody know what exactly they are doing and when Matterhorn is scheduled to reopen?

The new Bobsleds will not debut till the beginning of the year. I think now they're touching up the track in some places, electrical work, cleaning, general refurbishment. Matterhorn Bobsleds is sceduled to open December 15th.

And the new bobsleds are supposedly for the refurb NEXT year.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

The Matterhorn goes down for rehab annually as I understand it - it's an old ride - it needs work. I would have the ride down every year then have someone get hurt or something....
But I'm not thrilled about the idea of new bobsleds....i like the way they are now..

Yes I was there on the 15th and stoped by the ride because I heard them talking over the loud speaker about certain sounds the ride was making.
The earth is round.... or so i've found.

Every ride is supposed to go down annually for a refurb, some longer than others. When they put them off, the rides have to be down longer. That's why we see Indy going down for 3 months at a time rather than the 1 it should get annually.

You are very right about the age of the attraction. Something I really hadn't taken into consideration. I guess I'd rather have refurbs than no Matterhorn - right?

I'll have to see how the new bobsleds are before I make my judgement. Personally, I like them when they were just a single bobsled - before there were two attached together.......but, we've all survived THAT change.

I'm for keeping it closed for however long it takes to smooth out the ride on that contraption!

(Just kiddin' around folks -- but it really is too rickety for me...)
