Re: BFJen's Disneyland Trip Report - Crowds, Aly & AJ, the Lilly Belle and Disney Stu

Okay - I finally have some pictures to show you -

    DAY 3! Monday, November 13th

We got off early because we had Mickey's Toontown Madness Passes - We hopped on the train (but not before asking about riding in the Lily Belle-we were told to come back in the afternoon), and headed to Toon Town.

The madness was cute, and getting shorter lines to see the characters was great. We also took the opportunity to ride Roger Rabbit and the go-coaster with no lines.

The Jolly Trolley was there - but wasn't running.

    Whoohoo - no hands!

We headed around Big Thunder Mountain and went to Santa's Reindeer Roundup. Where we saw Clara Cluck, Pluto and Mrs. Claus. My kids were sure wondering how come Santa was here today and in DCA yesterday. She said that he likes to take a break, put on a Hawaiian shirt and go over there to relax every now and again. They were satisfied with that.

We passed on Santa since we saw him the day before.

We rode Big Thunder and stopped in to visit Billy Hill and the Hillbillies.

I've seen them every year for years, but still love them.

On to NOS! I just love the decorations.

My kids loved the pirates walking around. Each one told a story of how they're cursed.

My 7 year old really liked seeing Captain Jack's chair in the gallery. I was just praying that my kids wouldn't break anything.

We got back on the train and went to Main Street and found out that we were going to be able to ride in the Lily Belle. Cool! The conductor gave us a full run down on the history of private train cars while we waited. It was interesting to find out how much they cost to construct and to run! You'd really have to have a fear of flying to want one.

We took the loop around the park in style. It was fun watching people's faces as we pulled into the stations - like we should have been someone important.

If you get to ride the Lilly Belle - be careful of the cordial glasses - my husband touched one and it popped off the table. He was so mortified that he (gulp) put a piece of gum under it to reattach it. (I know, I shouldn't admit to that, but it was kinda funny to see his face).

I had to show my hubby the 50th movie after that and then we wandered into Fantasyland - finally. We took our time and rode a few rides - we also visited Tomorrowland again. Then we went back to watch the fireworks at ISAW. We sat right at the rope and got a great view. I loved the animation/projection on ISAW it really added to the fireworks.

The snow was unreal back there. It was a downright blizzard. My kids were sticky but had a good time.

Then we said goodbye to Disneyland (oh yeah, after a mad rush to get a bunch of swirly lollipops!)

Ahh yes, I hurt my neck during that ride, but it was my own fault. I was trying to get a map out of my pocket the whole ride. I failed so I just settled with the hood thing. Did it turn out good?

Re: BFJen's Disneyland Trip Report - Crowds, Aly & AJ, the Lilly Belle and Disney Stu

Now for the Disney Studios report!!! My secret stalker got in touch with me and offered to give my family a tour - how could I refuse!! We drove out to Burbank and had a little time so, we drove around and looked at the other studios - just not as cool as disney.

We parked across the street and entered under the lovely arches. (The attention to details is amazing - as always)

We checked in and got our sticker passes. We passed the time by waiting in the Legends pavillion - I spent most of the time explaining to my hubby who most of the people were (frankly, I didn't know quite a few).

    The new animation building

    TDA

    My kids and Roy

    Partners

    The Legends Tribute

I guess if the honor was given post-mordem, then you got a plaque like this.

Our escort arrived and took us through the original animation building. Along the walls were tons of concept drawings, cels, storyboards, and other drawings from disney movies. Including a few from the new movie, Meet the Robinsons.

We took a right and came to Pluto's Corner - home of Mickey Avenue and Dopey Drive.

We walked through the commissary - the walls had photos of the way it looked way back when - the food actually looked awesome!

    One of the original buildings

I got to go through the employees Disney Store - yay!!! Pins!!!!!

Then we headed to the sound stages. They were using two of them to film for Desperate Housewives and What about Brian(??). On each stage is a plaque that talks a little about it's history. On Sound Stage Two - is where they build the Mark Twain, then dismantled it and put it back together at Disneyland. I believe this was also the stage where they created the Tia Dalma swamp for POTC.

We walked by the props area - there was anything and everything you could want. Plus, the bicycles are everywhere.

Tucked in a garage looking space is one of the Narnia Wardrobes. Don't worry, they did preserve one of them in the archives.

We walked down a neighborhood street to get to the Frank G. Wells Building - home of the archives.

In the hallway is the huge multi-plane camera used to make Snow White.

Being a huge Bedknobs and Broomsticks fan - I loved seeing the Isle of Naboomboo book and the bedknob! My kids love the Aztec Gold Medallion. The best part, was seeing Dave Smith sitting at his desk! He was on the phone, so I thought it would be rude to just snap a picture - so I waved and moved on. Everything was behind glass, so a few of my pictures didn't quite turn out.

Anyway, the day was amazing. I absolutely loved it! So, to my secret stalker/disney studios host - thank you so much! You made my year! If you ever want a tour of Idaho Falls - gimme a call!!!

Wow, that's all I can say. I'm jealous. Looked like a whole Disneyland in itself. I like how Pluto's Corner had a fire hydrant. So awesome. Good job again Jen.
