    Star Tours diorama

    Gang,

Here are some older pics that I dug out at the urging of BlueHarvest1138. I don't know if these belong in a particular section, so moderators please move these if necessary.

Last year I began making a Star Tours diorama scaled to the Hasbro Star Wars action figures. It's still unfinished, but I think these images show the potential. Here's a mockup of the main hangar, complete with tourists:

The StarSpeeder is the obvious centerpiece, and was made by digitally tweaking several excellent photographs of the shooting model which had appeared in some coffee table book, printing them onto clear plastic, and then glueing them onto a white poster paper skin, which was over a styrofoam form. (At the top you can still see some exposed styrofoam, which was later covered.)

Here's another shot of the SS3K, taken outdoors, so you can see that it does have a starboard side.

    More pix to come!

Here's a shot of the rear of the SS3K:

"Would it help if I got out and pushed?"

This panel is actually basically flat, all the detail comes from the original photograph. Not a bad little trompe l'oeil effect.

Before this diorama, I also worked on a 'Sector 2' diorama. This was a test version, but I was pleased with the results.

And one a bit closer in:

I seriously need to revisit this and finish it.

Oh, you might have seen them once or twice... I've posted them on a Star Wars action figure site and on a Star Tours-specific site.

Now, who has spotted the hidden Mickey in one of the pics above?

    VERY AWESOME!

I don't know how attached you are to these, but have you thought about sending them to Disneyland or Mr. Lucas? I'm sure they'd have no issue with getting them autographed and maybe put up for auction for charity.

Maybe just something to write to them about?

That is awesome! A couple questions. First where is the hidden mickey? Second, are the secor 2 droids toy figures or did you make them yourself? i didn't know they made star tours figures.
