Was looking for info on anything special if anything that DL does for New Year's Eve. A few of us are thinking about spending the New Years weekend at the resort but none of us have been there at that time so we don't know if there's anything special to ring in the new year.
Disneyland is open until 2 am that night and they have a huge ball drop. Its very exciting.
My advice for new year's eve, get into the park early!!! It'll be filled to capacity...
Hmm, I have never seen a ball drop on NYE. It is very exciting, but usually they just have someone special up in the castle announcing the 10-9-8 stuff. At 9pm, we have done the cheering at IASW for the ball drop in NY. They had us count down while filming, and then we cheered. YEA 9PM!!!! But in 7-8 years of NYE at the park, I have never seen or heard of a ball drop. (We do play with beachballs though!)Quote:

NYE was the only time i nearly had panic attack at DLR due to the crowds. We were there for the change from 1992 to 1993..and it was SERIOUSLY packed in front of the castle..which is where i nearly passed out..damn claustrophobia! But it was my first NYE w/my now hubby:) so at least its a bit of a pleasent memory! Shame the park is only open until 2am now..it was open until 3am when we went, and between 2 and 3 we were able to ride just about every E ticket easily!

NYE is about the only time we avoid the park. We were there two years ago, never in my life have I been in such a large but generally nice crowd. Just wild. Have fun!

The last time we were there for NYE, we booked the 12:05 Fantasmic! dessert buffet. So we watched the fireworks from the balcony where it was decidedly less crowded.

DL is very busy, make your hotel reservation ASAP!!!! The park does not close untill 2am and i sugesst to get in frount of the castle early to get a nice view of the midnight firework show, have fun and be safe, it will be a LONG day.
I worked last New years Eve at DCA (as a recently hired). Handed out hats and horns to the willing and reluctant alike. Then did Guest Control until 1 AM.
DCA wasn't as crowded as I assume DL was but pretty busy for it. Might be a better bet than DL at the withcing hour if you're crowdophobic.
If we can't find a hotel we can ask if we can stay at our friend's house.
