I can understand that whilst guests are on working rides flash photography is banned - it annoys others. But why do you supose it is that when a ride breaks down and guests are escourted off and through the works and backstage that some CMs and security get really ansy about people taking photos and videos, even without flash?

probably because they don't want the backstage "magic" to be revealed to others and they probably don't want their competitors to see all the backstage stuff, how things work, and what new state of the art machines are being used.

Disney has to care because their compitition is always looking for ways to beat them in the theme park industry. They can never let down their post regardless. Competitors are competitors and are always hungry to learn the secrets of their competitors with hopes to use it against them.who cares Disney who's going to copy them six flags? Knotts? Disney probably doesn't want to take any risks of their theme park competitors seeing all the stuff backstage and how they operate things.
I think from that aspect, it is understandable that Disney doesn't let anyone take backstage pictures, because the stuff backstage is their type of "secret formula" that distinguishes Disneyland attractions from the attractions of other theme parks.
Yes but a lot of these attractions are decades old and the secret's already out.

I've only been evac'd from BTMRR and everyone was taking flash pics (except for me, who didnt have a camera at the time). I didnt see any CMs enforcing a no-photos rule.
But, yeah, I have to agree. Most of the ride at DL are decades old, the secret's already out.

Well like I said, they did not design their backstage areas for most people to see in the first place.

some evacs take place backstage... Backstage is backstage.. no photos allowed.
evacs like the TTA in WDW are onstage and i taped it..

I was just thinking of the "ruin the magic" issue. Just because DL sometimes takes video backstage for documentaries, I'm sure they want it to be on THEIR terms.

because the backstage is ugly and looks like any ordinary break room to me. Or worse....It didn't inspire me to take pictures.
