    New smell of Disneyland/DCA

Has anyone else noticed the burnt coffee smell that occurs near the tram station/entry to DCA and Disneyland?
Everytime we are there (once a week) it's the same burnt coffee smell
Does someone need to re-take the coffee brewing class or is it something else?

It's actually not a new smell at all. Most people report smelling it at the entrance to California Adventure...but the smell seems to often spread to other areas around the Esplanade. I think its been there since California Adventure first opened. There have probably been at least a dozen threads here that have discussed it in the past. Here's one from last year:

So kinda like instead of the vanilla smell they pump out on Main street, the La Brea bakery pumps out burnt coffee smell?

This is an old ongoing thing I mentioned a while ago...

They have a Roasting Machine at behind the bake goods shop (the one in the park not La Brea)... The trouble is it smells like they are burning the beans rather than roasting them proper... Sigh...

Still, it reminds me of the smell of coffee beans that used to waft up the Bay Bridge driving into San Francisco. Since the golden gate bridge structure is depicted, I thought it was a touch of the bridge lore...

I still want to know why they don't have better coffee if they are roasting their own beans... Cuz it tastes like cheap Nescafe Robusto beans... One day we hope Disneyland will partner with Starbucks or (California based) Peets and get some coffee that tastes like coffee should.

I work two doors down from a coffee shop that also roast beans, and they have the same smell(some clients that come to my office liken it to burned toast). The owner told me that it is their french roast that makes the smell because they essentially have to burn the beans for that type of coffee. I have no idea if this is true or not, but that is what the coffee guy tells all the angry tenants in our building that complain about the smell!! And, hey it reminds me of disneyland while I'm at work

You can see the coffee roaster in action at the BrrrBank Bakery. I'm surprised they don't label it as an attraction.
So full of Disney Magic, my eyes are blue.

You know this may make sense, because the cheap Nescafe really doesn't have a "French Roast" that is worth much of anything...

But still you wonder why they have to do it at that location... I mean, when entering DCA the first thing people don't want to be greeted with is a quaff of burnt coffee beans...

It's too strong an odor... Not like the cinnimon smell that is piped in to Main Street.
