Re: toys for tots.

That's awesome of them. Toys for Tots is a great charity. Since my dad deals in selling collectible toys and cars, we donate to them every year. We had a barrel when we used to have a store.

Re: toys for tots.

You know Knotts is doing the same thing and as a thank you they are giving you FREE admission to the park. Why won't Disney do the same or at least give away some free churros or dolewhips. Cheapskates.

Re: toys for tots.

Disney gives a free limited edition collectable pin when you donate a toy.

(and ya can't compare Knotts admission to Disney admission fairly)

Re: toys for tots.

The Toys for Tots boxes are in many different places here in Chicago. December the 3rd the Annual Motorcycle Parade down Western Avenue collects toys for Toys for Tots. My younger son always rides in that.

Because you shouldn't have to be bribed in order to do good.

Agreed.

I've always loved Toys For Tots and I really like the idea that they're doing collections at DLR.

Re: toys for tots.

My boys are both doing an extra job each week, for 4 weeks before Christmas to earn $25 each to take and buy presents that they've picked out for Toys for Tots. The little one offered to do extra jobs to "buy tots for toys" so we came up with that deal, I love them

Re: toys for tots.

It's important to give when you can to those who need it. Otherwise capitalism wouldn't work. We're going in two days and I have the toy ready to donate (I don't expect to get the pin for it because they say there are only something like 7000). My daughter got upset that I'm giving the toy not to her. Hopefully by example and in maturity she will become more generous.

The above commenter mentioned it, but just to be clear: the pin offer as stated in the Insider e-mail this week was for Sunday and for the first 7,000. They may not stick to the Sunday-only if 7,000 didn't turn in toys (which knowing the rabid pin fans, I'm sure they managed) but that was how the offer was stated.

It also said that Toys for Tots will be there other weekends into next month as well, but I can't find any confirmation on the DLand site of the exact dates and times.

Thanks for the tears! What a wonderful story to tell in the years to come. I think the fact that Disney, Knotts, and others take the time to think of the needy this time of year is Great! We are going on the 15th through the 18th so we are going to miss this...darn.
