Question Early Indy... Does anyone else remember this?

I was having a discussion with our Dustysage and our Fishbulb about the early days of Indy. Back when it first opened, there were face characters in the queue. Does anyone else remember this? The Dusty one and Mr. Bulb do not recall this. Does anyone here remember it?

    Here's what I recall:
There was a mechanic guy sitting on the boxes before the projection room. He talked about being a sidekick for Indy. He was wearing overalls and had oil smudges on his face.

Then there was a woman in khaki adventure outfit with a hat. She looked kind of like Disney's Tarzan's Jane. I remember seeing her near the cave entrance.

Then there was a British guy with a Dr. Livingston outfit on and a little riding whip. He walked in the opposite direction of the queue saying, "Out of the way, I'm British."

There was also someone sitting in the office after the projection room, but I don't remember who that character was.

I remember the wait being like 3hrs long and the characters were added to entertain the guests.

Some say I dreamed all this. Did I?

Hmmmm. I was there A LOT after it opened and dont recall any of these face characters. Then again maybe I just never noticed them through all the throngs of people waiting to ride (yep, I was one of those 3 hour waiters).

I heard they did antics for the premire of the ride, such as Indy running through the que and such. But seeing as I went the official opening day, I can tell you that it did not happen that day or since. So maybe at the press event, but that's it.

Are you sure they weren't passing out little dots or sugarcubes before you entered the queue?

Seriously, I can't recall seeing any characters back then.

I remember seeing those area characters, specifically the girl and the Dr. Livingston character. They would walk through the que area and interact with guests. IT DID HAPPEN!!!

I remember the AP only night when we waited in line for 2 hours and did not even get to ride. Only 15,000 in the park, it looked empty.I miss those days. We "ran into" Indy as he was running up and down the line being chased, there was a "snake lady" in line with a boa too.

I remember that. The whole Disney Afternoon overlay for certain Fantasyland rides was cool. I remember the Chip N Dale overlay for Autopia, too.

Those characters were in Adverntureland for the season. I worked on the Jungle Cruise during the whole Indy opening season and those guys were mostly seen outside in the Indy que and would sometimes come over to the Jungle Cruise que. I think they were dismissed after that first summer season because I never saw them again.
