AP expiration date question

Quick, short question. My pass is going to expire on Dec. 9 and I have not renewed it yet. I'm planning a final trip with some friends, and we may have to go ON the 9th. Is it still usable on the day it expires?

I have I feeling it is usable, but I wanted to double check first. I'd hate to go up to the front gate on the 9th and end up having to buy a ticket.

I'd call them. I've never had trouble getting phone help, and this is a good question!

Re: AP expiration date question

What does the pass say, exactly?
The general information is that it is good for 365 days from first use. If you first used it on Dec 9 last year, then it won't be good on Dec 9 this year.
Solution: buy a one-day pass, and upgrade to annual pass some time that day. (Note: Dec 9 this year will be considered your first use, since they'll knock off whatever you've already paid for the one-day pass.)
Result: it doesn't make a difference in your wallet. Just for time. Unless you don't plan to renew it.

Re: AP expiration date question

If the expiration date is listed as 12/09/06 on the AP, then it is VALID on December 9th.

Re: AP expiration date question

Yes, you can use your pass the day it expires. You actually get to go 366 days.

Re: AP expiration date question

Here is a slightly related question. Anybody know what is the earliest date one can renew their annual pass?

I am guessing the pass is going to go up in price this spring and I want to renew as early as possible to get the next year at the old price.

The rule is 30 days prior to expiration, to prevent folks from doing what you wanted to do.

Though when they raise the AP prices, there is a small window for those whose AP is about to expire to do so at the old rates, but last time you needed to mail it in, and not do it online, which was programmed to charge the higher rates.

Re: AP expiration date question

Thank you, everyone. I don't plan on renewing my AP anytime soon. I'm going to Europe in the summer (Paris and Rome), so I had to hold off on my AP in order to save some money. But it looks like I can still use my AP on the 9th, even if I don't renew it. I'll call the number like you guys said, so to make sure nothing has changed. Once again, thank you, everyone.

Re: AP expiration date question

Also, there's an advantage to renewing early if you plan to go to an upper-tier pass. Since you get a new pass the day you renew, you can get up to an extra month of the 'better' pass than you're old one.

That's cool. I got mine on my birthday. So my annual pass will start with my birthday and end on my birthday.

That's awesome.
