They definitely do. Let's hope it's better than the parties of the Pressler era.

Closing for the Cast Member Holiday Party? I'd say that's a good reason to close at 6pm, early in the week.

I hope the CM's and their families have a great time!

    Bleah, I say.
Ummm, no. I remember the good old days when the park was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and open 10-6 on Wed and Thurs, then 9-midnight Fri, Sat, and Sun during "off season."

I went on Monday and we were able to walk on most rides. The longest line of the day was to get mochas at Blue Ribbon.

The party was fun... all the rides were basically walk-on, 5 min. at most for wait times. The food lines were definitely the longest as a lot of people were coming from Burbank and had to leave early to get down to the park by 8pm. The party went from 8-12:30am.

I went to DL on Monday. It was empty! Loved it. But, of course, there was a 30 min wait for Peter Pan. That attraction is a slow loader.

I'm glad the party was fun.

No, I don't remember that, because that never happened.

Up until September, 1997 Disneyland would close at 6:00 pm on weekdays during all non-peak months. Up until 1985 Disneyland would be closed entirely on Mondays and Tuesdays during all non-peak months, and then be open until 6:00 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Are the rides operational during these parties? If so, who runs them?

The people that hired in the week before, Lol. Cast Parties are fun. When I went last year I was able to ride some attractions in some ways that would get the CMs fired if they tried it on regular guests.

Yes. Attractions cast members do. How do they do this if they are also attending the cast party? THEY aren't. The Cast Holiday party is spread over 3-days, there was a mix-in on Sunday, and then the exclusive parties on Monday and Tuesday. Generally Disney has it setup that each CM is either off or otherwise available for 1 of the parties, but then will be working the other 2. Simply put the cast takes turns each night running the park for each other.

I went last night and the party was so much fun. They did a showing of the parade for us and they had the rides open. They also did showings of the Jedi Training Academy and the Princess Fantasy Faire. I think one of my favorite things though was the option to send a message to a soldier over seas. I definately took advantadge of that opportunity.

Well, tell us, already! I've been waiting for two days to hear whether or not hilarity ensued.

    Re: Disneyland Hours: 9am to 6pm... 6pm?!

A long time ago I heard of the legendary Xmas parties where the corporate guys ran the rides and the cast members in the parks got to ride. So when I was hired as an Imagineer up in Glendale I was really excited. I signed up to operate an attraction for the evening (this was in 2000).

When I got there, I found out that I was practically the only corp person who applied. They stuck me at the entrance of Small World as a greeter. I had a blast greeting people and got a funny pic out of it, but I was kind of discouraged that more WDI and Studios people didn't take advantage of the tradition. Then again, just about everyone who was walking around the parks that night isn't with the company anymore anyways.

    How many in your party?
