Haunted Mansion vs Haunted Mansion Holiday

Taking into account the apples verses oranges of this matter, like the standard HM is around all year and the HMH overlay is only on for around a month a year, which do you think is the more fun or scary of the two?

I for one love the HUGE Jack Skelington in the lift room's ceiling. I never noticed the hanged guy up there until it was pointed out to me in a video. The GIANT looming head is much more powerful.

I like HMH, it's fun... but the HM is just amazing and I love it. So while I don't have anything against the overlay, except that it might be to bright (personal opinion), I just prefer the normal more.

I like em both. If they took away HMH I wouldnt be overly upset, but I like it.

Re: Haunted Mansion vs Haunted Mansion Holiday

Not a big fan of HMH. Saw it for the first time last year. Meh. The overlays look like they were done on the cheap and other than Jack, Zero and Oogie, you don't see any of the other Nightmare characters once you're on the ride (I don't count the loading area--that's just a painted sign).

If HM stayed the same year round, I wouldn't mind at all.

Re: Haunted Mansion vs Haunted Mansion Holiday

For someone that hated the Nightmare movie I was surprised how much I like the Holiday version. It's a nice change for a couple of months.

Re: Haunted Mansion vs Haunted Mansion Holiday

Hmm. I kinda like the Haunted mansion holiday better. (Me and Jack's Sleigh Dog ,Zero, are pretty good friends .) But the regular haunted mansion is probably scarier. But I like the lighting better in the haunted manson holiday. Much more colorful.

Each of the two have differences. But I would probably go with the Haunted mansion as being best to theme and the haunted mansion holiday as being a fun, colorful, and louder ride of the original.

The Holiday version is fun... but it's just too bright and neon for me. The colors just take away that haunted feeling.
I'm looking forward to sitting in HM again once they take out the Holiday overlay.

Re: Haunted Mansion vs Haunted Mansion Holiday

HMH is fine and all but there are 2 reasons that I don't favor it. First is that it takes the original mansion out of comission for 5 months out of the year if you count the 2 months to set up and tear down. That IMO is way to long. Second is that some of the new affects get taken out such as the floating leota ball and the new bride.
Other then that, its a good show.

I love both version. I think that it is great that the HM changes for a few months and then goes back to the regular version. HMH is there just long enough to enjoy and doesn't over stay it welcome.

Re: Haunted Mansion vs Haunted Mansion Holiday

First of all, I love that it changes, period. I think that keeps both versions fresh and new. Although my wife strongly prefers the Holiday version, I dislike it, for the bright/neon colors that most have mentioned. I strongly prefer the "regular" or "classic", if you will, version. It just has a creepiness that builds and then turns into fun that I think is well done.

Re: Haunted Mansion vs Haunted Mansion Holiday

Okay, first things first:

It is NOT year-round! That's a misnomer.

I find HMH so-so, but I adore the HM. I bristle at the term "year-round" is because it's open only 7-9 months of the year in its standard form. Especially during the 50th, to have taken a signature, E-ticket attraction out of its original form for so long was just plain wrong. (I felt the same way about POTC, too). Don't get me wrong - I love the pluses that were added, so the extra couple of months were worth it. I just feel that HMH just isn't the attraction that HM is, and the timing of those extra months just added insult to injury.

Just my five cents (adjusted for inflation).

Re: Haunted Mansion vs Haunted Mansion Holiday

I love them both for their own uniqueness. I like the new Bride in HM and the music in HM, but I LOVE Jack Skellington in general so I love HMH. Besides, my son loves Jack better than the normal HM so I’m a bit biased.
