Plaza Pavilion

I know they do activities at the Plaza Pavilion like the cookie decorating and such but is it used for anything else? Everytime I go past it, other than the pin cart in front there is normally nothing going on in there. Whats the deal? Seems like a big waste of space.

Re: Plaza Pavilion

That's where all us pin traders congregate on Sundays. When they had Candlelight, they had most of that area closed off. We had a terrible pin trading day standing at the very small tables near Store Command. So, we really appreciate that place. Also there are tables for people to eat there too. And they still have one of the annual pass processing centers in the building.

Re: Plaza Pavilion

You know what they desperately need there... another BIG (and affordable) breakfast restaurant that serves eggs and pancakes until mid-afternoon! Why not theme it to Lady & the Tramp's Tony's?

A couple of weeks ago when I was there, there was a bunch of characters playing musical chair with a group of kids. It was adorable.

Re: Plaza Pavilion

Central Plaza is the ideal place to locate restaurants because it is central.

Re: Plaza Pavilion

I sure miss the Plaza Pavillion restaurant. I used to go there all the time and had a great spaghettie dinner. What a shame to have closed it years ago.

Plaza Pavillion and Carnation Gardens, for that matter.

Re: Plaza Pavilion

Would they be able to staff another restaurant? I too would like another restaurant that serves breakfast.

Re: Plaza Pavilion

Oh so there was a restaurant there? Is the interior still intact? How INTERESTING!

Re: Plaza Pavilion

Before the days of ODV ubiquitousness Disneyland had some very nice places to eat.

The American Egg House served breakfast all day(and sandwiches and such for lunch and dinner) with full sit down service.

The Plaza Pavilion was open seasonaly and served fried chicken and spagheti among other things in a buffeteria type service: great place to sit down and catch the Main St. Electrical Parade if you couldn't get a seat at the Plaza Inn.

Tahitian Terrace not only had great food but a superb show as well; even if you were not watching the show you could hear when waiting in line for the Jungle Cruise....adding a nice touch of atmosphere to that queue.

Captain Hooks Galley/Chicken of the Sea Rest.....Not a full service restuarant but the Ship and the patio eating area behind it(with skull rock waterfall) were. imho, right up there with Blue Bayou in level of theme.........the grilled tuna sandwiches were not too bad either

Re: Plaza Pavilion

I know it wasn't there many years and only seasonal, but I'll never forget the Big Thunder Barbecue. Great food, great atmosphere, and huge servings!

Re: Plaza Pavilion

I'd love to see another nice, table service place put in the Plaza Pavilion.

Well, long before - Egg House & Hook's closed in '82. Both are missed (does the Egg House still hold the world's record for biggest omelette ever made?) and Hook's, well, just look at my sig.

We watched that, then got pics with all the characters. Very cute!
