    Red Face Disneylandism... a cult?

So whilst sitting in my sociology class a week or two ago, my thoughts that disney was a cult were further cemented by the sociological defintions of cult. The pencil is the notes from the board, the purple pen is the disney cult thoughts

Interesting ... especially given the fact that some of my friends say that it seems like I am in a cult. But ... I just ignore them and keep doing what I do.

I was particularly struck by the commitment of assets point, but I'm not convinced by the other examples. Walt Disney may have been charismatic but he more served the emerging "cult" than led it. It is to his creations that the "members" adhere, not the man himself. A "pilgrimage" to Disneyland has no religious connotations, the importance is merely the enjoyment of the trip itself.

But I understand that making reference to Disney and Disneyland brings interest to any assignment or chore. It even makes a good thing better.

Haha, well, if they can make up a name for the depression we go through if we have a lack of Disneyland, then I think labeling us a cult is fair game.

Yes. Disneylandism is a cult. A very, very benign cult. In fact, it's the happiest cult on earth!

Hey! You misspelled "Street" in number 3 there. Stream. Ha! What were you thinking?

Oops. Guess I gave myself away as a cult member there. Hope they don't make me drink the Mint Julep.

Isn't Mickey Mouse the leader of the club that was made for you and me?

If so, then, come along. Sing a song. And, join the jamboree.
