Headless Auctioneer!

At about 8:45 this evening, my friend and I were riding POTC when we noticed something odd and pretty much disturbing.

In the auction scene, the auctioneer's head had been knocked off (or at least, that is what it looked like) his body. It was hanging on by wires or what not. His body was still moving as was his mouth, but his head was hanging on his chest. When we got off the ride, one of the cast members was on the phone and telling the other not to load the boat. When we walked past the ride about 10 minutes later, and it was completely shut down.

Unfortuantely, I was too busy staring and giggling to get a picture. Not that it was really funny, it was more creepy than anything else.

When the pirates have a midnight jamboree, they break it up with fiendish glee, most are bad but the one that's cursed is the headless auctioneer he's the worst.

Well, one of the functions is that the AA Auctioneer's head turns to view the area, and something in the "neck" swivel actuator could easily have broken, or just plain wore out. The head has to be removed for servicing, so there will be a coupling of some sort.

Stuff happens... They followed the usual procedure - stop loading and let the ride bateaus cycle through empty, and send someone down there to see if it can be fixed quickly.

I can't confirm whether this happened or not, but I can confirm that the attraction was closed around that time when I stopped by. I'd -love- to see a picture though!

That's really funny. We went on pirates a few months ago (before it closed for the Depp additions) and the fat singing pirate with accordian in the blue/white striped shirt had his pants halfway down his waist. Pretty funny stuff. We went on later that evening and they were fixed.

Should be interesting to see how long it takes to fix him and what they'll do in the meantime, hopefully they won't close down the entire ride but I must say the Auction scene will look quite odd without an Auctioneer.
