Hats at Disneyland

Often when I go to Disneyland, it's really hot and the sun is directly overhead. I was thinking of bringing a hat, but the only one I have is a straw Stetson (cowboy hat, for those who don't know). I was wondering what you folks with big hats do with them when you go on rides like Space Mountain and BTMRR. Any ideas?

Just hold it on your lap, it will be fine.

Ah okay. I just noticed that there's not a lot of room when you've got the lap bar and whatnot.

Over the bar. I hate having to take my hat on and off though. I'd rather not deal with that hat-hair.

*chuckles* Hat hair is pretty funny, actually. My hair is short enough where I can just run my hands through it and it's fine.

I've never taken off my hat while on rides, but I only wear baseball caps. I just hold onto it if it feels like it's going anywhere. My dad wears his backwards.

Ok, if you say so, here I am with a reply.

I never wear a hat bigger than a baseball cap or mouse ears so I just stuff 'em in the little pocket or in my bag. I'd be too worried about it actually flying off during the ride to leave it on.

Hold onto it for dear life There should be enough room for you to hold onto it over the lapbar.

Well, I always wear a hat and I have not lost one yet (better cross my fingers!!!) Space Mountain actually has a bag for you to put your stuff like a hat in. I wear a ball cap and if the ride doesnt have a place to put it in I either wrap it around a bar in the ride vehicle or down my shirt!

use some string and tie it under your chin...im sure you wont get any strange looks from strangers

My grandpa wore his stetson the whole trip last month. He made my grandma hold it for him if he went on a "big" ride. I held it once for him and just put in on my knee and held it.
