    My monorail idea!

    Well it would not change the curent track muck exept for acouple new stations in CA and grand californian hotel. The bigest change would be to have another new track that would serve the mickey and freinds parking ramp and the paridise pier hotel. Here is a map below.
    Green = stations
    Red = new track
    Blue = curent track

    I think you were very good about spotting the best location for Grand Californian. But the problem is that the two stops, Downtown Disney and the Grand Californian, would be only one minute from each other. What makes more sense is a new station that would serve both Downtown Disney and the Grand Californian. That way one could enter Disneyland at the main gate or at the Monorail entrance.

    The track for the other two locations are also well thought out, but the Monorail has no way to turn around. How about a smaller Train that would service between those two locations and maybe pick up the Disneyland Hotel. That train would have two fronts so that it would not have to turn around. The pilot could just walk to the other end. One could only have one train on the track at a time though. That would increase the wait time.

    Re: My monorail idea!

    Nice to be thinking of all this, and I agree that something needs to be done to accomodate Paradise Pier hotel guests, but I think a quick variation of the monorail (much like the ones used at Orlando airport) to take paradise pier guests to where disneyland hotel is would be the best solution. From there, everyone can board the same monorail.

    Grand Californian guests can walk right into DCA or take a few more steps to the park itself.

    Mickey & Friends guests can take the same tram as always. Just to avoid too much congestion on the monorail system.

    A monorail from Mickey and Friends wouldn't be practical. It's not a very scenic route and the volumes of people going in and out would make the lines horribly long.

    I don't think the monorail has to be scenic. Prior to DCA, the monorail skirted the parking lot, which was anything but scenic. Travelling to the parking structure would not be any less scenic than this was.

    With this idea, you'd have to have security checkpoints and ticket takers at each of the stations - not very practical.

    My idea is something more like this:

    Get rid of the TL station altogether but put stations at main gate/parking.

    Leave the DTD station alone for all the hotels.

    So by having the monorail station be OUTSIDE of the park, would you eliminate the requirement of showing admission ticket or an AP? Or would someone need to do that as well as wait in line to get into the park? If that's the case, I say no thanks.

    The joy of using the monorail from downtown disney is that you're waiting in line to get INTO Disneyland without waiting in the front. You also get a great overhead view of the park. If guests boarded from downtown disney only to be dropped in front of disneyland, that wouldn't be too popular with hotel guests.

    And very funny, grimmgreen!

    Re: My monorail idea!

    I think this is a great idea - because this Monorail system was what Walt Disney forethought as 'transportation of the future'. If we actually USED it as transportation, we'd be actually carrying out his idea. Not only would it be an attraction, but a pretty incredible piece of transportation to and from various areas in the resort.

    I think this is a FABULOUS idea.

    Re: My monorail idea!

    Still has some problems, but how about incorporating DL's ugly sister park into the monorail "loop"?

    I'm thinking if TL gets a station why not somewhere inside DCA? Also while were at it, M&F is way too high load to work with the monorail so they can keep on with the tramasauruses. But the smaller Timon carpark could possibly have a station. Although this would be frightfully close to the DCA station lol.

    This way the monorail is used mostly for the hotel patrons, park hoppers and DTD guests.

    DCA stands for Disney Construction Area. All the Cast Members are themed with hard hats and steel toed boots.

    The best and only real solution for transporting people from the parking structure would be a modernized Peoplemover system. The constant moving vehicles is precisely what is needed, although wheelchairs and strollers would not be permited to ride and would need to take the trams.
