Disneyland Pepsi commercial from the 60's

I just happened upon this little ad. It's really cool with all sorts of quick views of the park (even the Flying Saucers!)

Thanks for showing this. Interesting that they have always been with Coke, right? *I don't know the history about that one* But I have noticed Coke sponsered alot for Disney.

That is TOO COOL! I wanna be part of The Pepsi Generation!!! Thanks for the link!!!

    >>Interesting that they have always been with Coke, right?<<

Nope - - In the classic Disneyland days they sold BOTH Coke and Pepsi. Coke Corner was always on Main Street and Pepsi was the longtime sponsor of The Golden Horseshoe Revue!

The whole park only went exclusive to Coke in the 80's...

Awesome comercial. The comercial is a bit before my time, but in the 70's I remember Pepsi having Tom Sawyer's Island (Mountian Dew from Fort Wilderness!), and Sponsering Country Bears, and Golden Horseshoe. Coke's stronghold was Coke Corner on Main Street. Disneyland was like a battle ground in the great cola wars.

Re: Disneyland Pepsi commercial from the 60's

Up until 1982 both Pepsi and Coke were served in Disneyland. Pepsi-Cola sponsored the Golden Horseshoe at the same time Coca-Cola sponsored Tomorrowland Terrace and Refreshment Corner. Even today my elderly aunt refers to the Golden Horsehoe as "The Pepsi show" because the Pepsi logo was hanging prominently out front for the first 27 years. (Shows you how powerful a sponsor can be over the long term. I still buy Goodyear tires just because I enjoyed riding the PeopleMover so much.)

Pepsi-Cola also sponsored the Country Bear Jamboree when it opened in 1971 at WDW. That's why during the introduction to the show Henry the bear says "You've got a lot to live, and the Country Bears have a lot to give!". That was a purposeful nod to the big Pepsi jingle from the early 1970's that went "You've got a lot to live, and Pepsi's got a lot to give!".

Until 1982 it just depended on which restaurant you were at inside Disneyland whether or not they would serve Pepsi or Coke.

    Okay, that was awesome!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I don't know if it was posted on MiceChat, but back in May on another Disney bulletin board this same commercial was posted. Here's the YouTube link for the same ad:

    I posted at that time:

Re: Disneyland Pepsi commercial from the 60's

Thanks for the great link! Wow...how times have changed. That was not too long before the Summer of Love. Interesting how jazz oriented the jingles were back before rock and pop and we know it today took over.

This had to be just a few years before...

"I'd like to teach the world to sing
    in perfect harmony.
I'd like to hold it in my arms
    and keep it company....."

And I completely forgot that Pepsi had ANYTHING to do with Disneyland back then. Thanks Onut!
