Help: Weekend or Weekday, End January?

Hi everyone.

OK I consider myself fairly savvy with DL, but I'm trying to decide on this and would love to hear your advice.

I have friends coming from Australia and I'm taking them to DL for one day. Here's the options for dates to go:

Sat Jan 20th (open 14 hours)
Sun Jan 21st (open 13 hours)
One of the Weekdays Jan 22 etc (open 10 hours)

I usually get through DL very well as I know all the fast pass tricks. However my last visit there (back in August) it was VERY TOUGH battling the crowds indeed, especially as that day POTC, BTM and SM were all closed for a lot of the time!! (Waisted time going back and forth discovering closed rides / no FP available for closed rides etc, FP with LOOONG window openings to wait for).

ANYWAY, which of the above dates would you choose?

Come to think of it Sat might not be possible (they fly in the day before). Sunday has bigger crowds being the weekend but its 3 extra hours. I'd usually recommend what ever you can do to avoid crowds but I';m jsut not so sure, perhaps those extra hours are better?

I would definitely say a weekday. I remember going to the park last January during off-season to see some of my friends march down Main Street in the marching band, and the Space Mountain wait was only 5 minutes - obviously I took advantage of it! Even though weekdays are shorter, the lack of crowds will allow you to do probably more than you could on Sunday, even though that's 13 hours of open time (oh, and large crowds).

I'd definitely go the weekday in January. Even though it is open the least amount of hours it is so uncrowded you will get much more done in those hours than you can on the weekends when it is open longer.

Yes I thought as much. However I read in another thread that MANY of the LA / OC schools have school holidays now during the first week of January so I was wondering about it....

Anyone go last year in the first week of Jan?

Like I said my last visit had fairly (not massive, but fairly) big crowds and it was VERY tough work.

This weekend, or next weekdays? Thing is, Small World and Splash Mountain will both be closed as of Monday...

Still guessing the weekday would be better?

I'm going again for my b-day on the 31st. I went last year, and I could have roller skated through both parks. Did something like 26 attractions in 8 hours.

Fridays are a different story, especially as it gets onto the evening.

Even in January. The good news is, though, that Fridays in January are still going to be a lot better than Fridays in July!
