    12/18: Parks VERY Busy

Dropped in for a bit today just to see how crazy it was. Michelle Kwan was there filming, but a lot of people didn't know who she was. Both parks are really busy - too busy to really do anything. We left after only a couple hours.

    Look it's Michelle Kwan!

Lines in Tomorrowland were pretty bad. The line for Star Tours was posted at 60 minutes. Buzz Lightyear posted at 40 minutes. This was at 12:00pm.

Space Mountain was much worse. At noon, the line was already 70 minutes, and the fastpass distribution was for 10:30 PM. That's right, 10 hours later! I really wanted to ride Space Mountain one last time before the Rockin' Overlay but I guess I won't be able to.

Yeah.... And this is the line just to get a Fastpass for 10 hours later. Yeeesh.

Looping back around toward Fantasyland you can see that the two lines for the Matterhorn merged together at the backside of the Mountain and started heading down into the parade route.

New Orleans Square.... Pirates wait time was estimated at 45 minutes.

Adventureland was set up like they do for Fantasmic. The entrance to Adventureland was blocked from Main Street and was one way exiting traffic only. To get to Adventureland you had to walk all the way through Frontierland.

Posted wait time for Indiana Jones was 65 minutes, with Fastpasses available for 7:35 to 8:35 PM.

Needless to say we got out of there shortly after that. Hope no one else is headed down there today. The line JUST to get tickets was being advertised as an hour long.

What about this, for a Space Mountain queue time! Photo taken on 4/4/06 by ME!

It was around closing time and the CM's were changing the queue time.

Ooops you're right. This was today the 28th - I don't even remember what I was doing the 18th.

Wow!! Those crowds are insane. We were there the week after Thanksgiving and the longest we waited for any ride over the four days we were there was 5 minutes.
You can think I'm wrong, but that's no reason to quit thinking.

    Re: 12/18: Parks VERY Busy

Some friends from Nevada are there today and have reported that they stopped selling tickets to Disneyland by 11:00am. They already had their Park Hoppers purchased, but when they moved over to DCA at 11:00am there were CM's out at the ticket booths yelling to the long lines of people still trying to buy tickets that "Disneyland is sold out for the day! We are only selling tickets for California Adventure!".

I just checked in with them again on the cell phone while I read this thread, worrying about them, and they have said it is "insanely busy" and that lines for all the rides are at least an hour. Worse have been the lines for food, as they waited longer for a burger from a clearly ill-prepared Hungry Bear Restaurant than they did for Pirates of the Caribbean. Apparently they have the Pirates line stretched to the Haunted Mansion and back three times, and then over the bridge to Tarzan's Treehouse and back once, before you go through some switchbacks in front of the ride and finally get into the regular queue in the courtyard and go into the ride building. That massive, snaked line only took them 30 minutes to get through, and they said all of the Pirates CM's were clearly busting their behinds to keep the line moving quickly.

They also said they had great service from the CM's at Matterhorn and on the Canoes and at Soarin'. They had far less kind words for all of the food service CM's they've encountered today, and they are seriously contemplating writing a letter to Disney Corporate about the horrible service and mismanagement of the Disneyland restaurants they've eaten at today. But at least the rides are being managed well and the ride CM's are impressing them with good service and fast action on a very busy day.

What I don't understand is why they picked this week to go to Disneyland in the first place?!

Some folks don't have a choice about when to go, or don't realize how busy it can be.

And, there are many folks who really get off on being in a great big crowd--makes them feel like they're part of the larger movement of humans.
