But didn't Big Thunder use to be faster? Before that kid stuck his leg out and tore a ligament? (or something, I don't remember what happened)

You can't just change the speed of a gravity powered roller coaster. The speed is controlled by physics.

Well... you CAN add a bunch of trim brakes on the lifts.

Either that, or you're being literal with the "along the track" or the "fan" thing. AC vents count too.
They strategically place cast members along the track to blow on riders to simulate the sensation of flying in space.

Heh I've seen a video of that, the cameraman kept asking the CM "Did we weigh too much?" the look on the CM's face is priceless as he tries to decide what to say... then he just says what sounds like a speil "This rocket ran out of fuel...".
    Disney FAQ#275: What is DCA?
DCA stands for Disney Construction Area. All the Cast Members are themed with hard hats and steel toed boots.

That train had stopped before load/unload, the kid stuck out his foot, and then it moved into position, so speed of the train wouldn't figure into it.

    Just what I have obsoived
Not at all weird. Expected, in fact. As the day goes on, the grease on the wheels heats up and the train goes faster. The boy and I were on Medusa at 6FMW last spring on a cold, rainy morning when we were the only ones riding and it was like a slowler coaster at that time.

    A bientot.

Thank you! I've been trying to tell my wife this same thing for years.
