    Recommendations at the Blue Bayou

Hey I'm going to go the Blue Bayou for the first time tomorrow (: [for me and my boyfriend's one year anniversary] and I've looked at their menu, but not quite sure to what I'd get. Can you guys let me know what's really good there, that I'd should get ? Thanks !!

I heard the Flying Dutchman's dessert is delectable (:

    If you go for lunch:
    Caesar salads are tasty

Monte Cristo Sandwich is also wonderful.

Go for lunch. Get the Monte Cristo, and pick one up for me, too.

I think it is pork loin. If it isn't it is a port dish but it is good. I dno't know if it is on the new menu though. I know for sure it was on the old one though.

Not sure if they do the jambalaya at dinner, but that's my favorite dish at BB.

I also liked the pork medallions (?) and the prime rib. It's been a while since I had dinner there, we usually go for lunch....

We were just there yesterday. Don't get the mahi mahi - it wasn't great (although I did like the shrimp with it - too bad that wasn't the dish). But, my husband had the prime rib and that was very good.

Red Face Re: Recommendations at the Blue Bayou

Anything is ok there but I haven't eaten there in about 10 years so I wouldn't know now.

Just don't make the mistake I made -- I went there for lunch with my ex and the bill came to something like $25. In any case, I paid with my credit card but I messed up on the tip. Instead of tipping $4 or $5 I made a mistake and tipped the waitress $40.00. I was thinking, ok well that's 15%... (Why I was thinking that I still have no idea). Later that day my ex sees the reciept and she goes, "WHAT DID YOU DO?" I was all, "oh yeah... You're right. Must have been the pixie dust they sprinkled on my Monte Cristo..." Well, I guess it goes without asking why she's my ex! LOL

Re: Recommendations at the Blue Bayou

We've enjoyed the BB about 6 times now since they "re-opened". Mostly for lunch, but a few times for dinner.

Here's what we enjoyed...(and recommend for dinner)

Both of the appetizers, the crab cakes and the jumbo shrimp.

Your choice of the Wedge salad or the Gumbo with an entree. Both are fine. We do miss the chowder though.

    Jambalaya (always a favorite)
King Crab legs (ask for extra sauce)
    Prime Rib
Mahi-mahi- (one time very good, the other so-so)
    Cajun salmon

    For dessert...

The Flying Dutchman boat (a given)
    Creme Brulee

Haven't tried the key lime, but not a fan. I'm sure it's good though.

    Have a wonderful meal!

The prime rib, and the salmon, are excellent. And don't forget dessert!
