any advice for an expecting father?

hello all,

my wife and are planning a trip to disneyland and ca adventure in the next week or so... she is expecting our first child, and we understand most of our time will be spent walking and enjoying the sights... maybe a small ride or two (small world, pirates, soarin)...

i just heard of the new "rockin" space mountain & california screamin... it sounds pretty cool...

i guess i'm exploring to possibility of going on alone... i guess it's a bit selfish of me... i definately dont want to leave her alone for too long... does anyone have an idea of how long the fast pass lines typically take for these rides, once its your window is open?

has any other father to be been through this? should i just kill the idea?

thanks

Re: any advice for an expecting father?

As a new father, I would recommend that she NOT ride Piratesor any coasters.Splash, because of someone here on MC that was pretty sure they miscarried "possibly" from this ride. So use caution. My wife and I made sure we steered clear of those rides that could compromise the pregnancy.Don't risk it.

Well, yes - very recently - as my son will be 3 months old this weekend.

We went over Presidents Day Weekend - got on Space Mtn, and Matterhorn, etc.. The following Friday my wife found out she was pregnant. I told her I wouldn't get on any 'coasters' during her pregnancy - unless there was someone or people that would sit there with her and keep her company.

I finally got on Matterhorn on 12/31 for the first time in almost a year - because of my 'vow' to her.

That was just what I did because Space Mtn is her favorite ride there. Personally, I would not get on those rides if it was just the two of us. Of course, that is my opinion - but I think that is sort of what you were asking for.

Good Luck and congrats on your impending Fatherhood!

Re: any advice for an expecting father?

Due to the Christmas overlays being taken down, and all of the closures for refurbs, the crowds should be thin.

The key word being "should".

Re: any advice for an expecting father?

I went through this both times when my wife was pregnant and what happened with me is everytime we planned on going, she decided she didn't want to go............
So at least you do get to go.
If we were to go while she was pregnant, I would have gone on the ride myself. She would have understood. I'm sure your wife will also, unless she loves the rides as much as you.
How far along is your wife though??
I definitely wouldn't kill the idea of going. It will be fun. Your childs first trip to Disneyland in a way.

Congratulations by the way!!

Re: any advice for an expecting father?

Does your wife like to shop? I like to go in every store in the off chance that there is something that I didn't see and have to have. It drives my friends and family crazy and I like to shop whiile they're on rides without me. Course I'm not an APer so I don't see the merchandise all the time and don't have the chance to get sick of it like others do. Stick to Fantasyland for rides. ANd Congratulations!!

Send her on something slow and go on what you want. Get used to it honestly, once the baby gets here there will be a lot of that. As for how long fast pass return takes, I guess it depends on time of week. Mid week or weekend.

Be sure to check on the single rider line options!

What's the story behind your username, must be something other than what it sounds like...

Re: any advice for an expecting father?

Ask your wife what she wants. I wouldn't want my husband to miss out on any rides. I'd be happy to wander around New Orleans Square on my own while he went on a ride that I couldn't go on. But I'd be unhappy if he went to the park without me or if we canceled a trip due to my pregnancy.

There are a ton of rides she can go on, so enjoy!

Also, we found out we were pregnant with our second kiddo while at Disneyland. We made several wishes at the wishing well for her.

California did the same thing with Sudafed and many others.

Meth, I hope you have a good time if you decide to go.
