Darwin Award anyone? Or just a REAL stupid person. I wonder why she needed the O2 tank? Hmm.. Lung cancer maybe?

BTW to all you smokers out there. Remember the news about the guy in England who got radiation poisoning? Polodium 210? Its an Alpha emiter and only toxic if ingested. (the dead layer of skin or a piece of paper is sifficent shielding to stop alphas). You inhale Polodium and other alpha emiters when you smoke. Congrats...

Don't mind me...I know WAY too much about radiation...The benifits of a Naval education I suppose...

    Re: I asked nicely...

Some of these stories of people smoking while hooked up to oxygen tanks reminds me of when I was doing Temp work in our local hospital's x-ray dept. You would be AMAZED at the number of people that would come in, smoking out of the tracheomotry (sp) hole in their throat where their voice box had been removed for cancer. That's right, instead of the ciggy hanging out of their mouth, they would hold it up to their throat and smoke out of the hole in in the base. (Think of the receptionist in "Beetlejuice" for a visual)

    Unbelivable!!!

    Re: I asked nicely...

Everytime I see someone on O2 and smoking I want to tell them about my neighbor. She was on O2 and bedridden. She was 45. She had a caretaker who would take her off the O2 and take her outside for a smoke every few hours. One day, she sent her caretaker to the store. While gone, she snuck a smoke. The O2 went boom and the house caught fire. She died trapped in the bed.

Smoking is one habit I am very glad I never tried. It has to be so addicting.
If you see a cute yellow lab puppy with a yellow cape, WAVE! It might be us! (Or it may be someone else that lurks here!) Thank you for asking before you pet! Next trip, Dec 22-Jan 3rd.

It's not just that ... O2 is flammable, and in this case, under pressure. There have been many Darwin awards handed out to folks who self-immolated with cigs and O2. Go figure.

    Re: I asked nicely...

I yelled at a lady last week when we were standing in front of INDY. She was smoking away and I told her there is no smoking in this area. She gave me a dirty look and then the CM that was there went over and told her to put it out. People should never be afraid to speak up about those who are smoking, cutting in line or desroying Disney property! Good JOB!!!!!

I am a MM1. I was stationed on the Truman. Now I am at SWRMC SD. Still in the Navy and have an AP to DLR. Good to know there are CM's who would know what to do in case of some sort of spill. Sorry to hear you were on the Enterprise. I have heard horror stories from there. That and I have read the incident reports.

O2 by itself is not flamable really. It just makes everything else REALLY flamable.
