Sad Sleeping Beauty Castle: Will it ever reopen?

Is it torn out? Is it collecting dust? After seeeing a video I became curious about what has happened to this classic.

Scenes are gone. Some went into the windows at the emporium for a while.

Re: Sleeping Beauty Castle: Will it ever reopen?

Good question. It's been closed ever since 9/11, and I remember it being on the refurbishment list for at least a year, and after that it just disappeared off the list. No doubt Disney would prefer you didn't remember it at all, and it certainly isn't a hard task, since when it was open most guests never knew it existed anyway (it wasn't even listed on the park map for many years).

I know that at least a few of the set pieces have been removed, one of which could be viewed in an Emporium window I believe. Most of them weren't in that great of a condition and were in desperate need of replacing. I'll take a guess that most of them were destroyed. Couple that with stairs and the very narrow passageways, and you have an accessibility issue that just isn't worth the bother.

The demise of the diorama is very sad, but according to what I read, Walt wasn't very pleased with it anyway (he never was a fan of walk-throughs).

Will it ever reopen? Who can say for sure, but if it does, I bet it won't be any time soon.

Last time I went in there they were just using it as a stock room. But even now I doubt theyll let even CM's in tehre for security reasons... I cant think of anything else DL can do with the inside of that castle.

I remember walking through it when I last had passes in 98. I actually went looking for it when I got passes again last year, and was a little disappointed that it was no longer there.

It's a storage area for the Remember fireworks now.

Doubtful it's ever going to reopen.

Kind of bums me out...I never saw it (even though I've been to Disneyland at least once a year in my lifespan), and I love Sleeping Beauty

Personally, I'd rather see Disneyland have a Sleeping Beauty dark ride instead...and it would be so awesome...imagine, a beautiful forest with Phillip and Briar Rose dancing, their reflections on the lake and the little animals watching...a giant, sweeping Maleficent dragon breathing fire at you! It could be such an amazing attraction...

Of course, if they were to happen, one of two things would have to occur.

    1) Something in Fantasyland goes.

    2) Get rid of the name "ToonTown", leave the few successful things in the area, and expand Fantasyland.

I really miss the walk- through. It was always one of my favorite things about Disneyland while I was growing up. I still loved it as an adult, too.

I think Sleeping Beauty should be the main thread of Villain Mountain... the thrilling, high-speed, water-coaster dark ride.
Think "Pirates," "Splash," "Rock n Rollercoaster" and "Journey to Atlantis" in one.

I was trying to find pictures of the walk through attraction. Does anyone have any? I feel like walking down memory lane....
