    Disneyland Security

I was just wondering, does anyone know if Disneyland has metal detectors build in to the gates or somthing. I can't think of any other amusment park that doesen't. And last time i visited the Disneyland Resort, I didn't see any walk true metal detectors or wands, so I always thought that they had them in the gates. If not, whats from keeping someone to walk in the park with a gun or knife or some other dangerous object.

They have simple bag searches at the entrance to the esplanade. No metal detectors. That would cost money.

I hope there is never a need for metal detectors at Disneyland. Not something I want attached to my image of Disneyland.

I don't think there's a need for 'em. Disney's undercover team is so damn good, that it's really not needed. Really - when was the last shooting at DL? Magic Mountain just recently had yet another one, and they DO have detectors.

Machines aren't necessary when you've got a great team of people who know what they're doing. And that definitely shows at DL.

My company picnic was at Knott's last weekend. They do not have metal detectors, and someone stands behind the ticket taker checking all bags.

I seem to recall or maybe this was a couple of years ago...but that some security staff members were PT police officers that also took security jobs at DL and KBF to make ends meet. YES, they worked at ALL three places at once!

As far as violence at certain parks maybe its a LA and OC thing? However, I do not recall seeing metal detectors at Universal Studios nor at Sea World.

When I went on Saturday I saw 90 year old grandmothers and small children subjected to body cavity searches in full view of the ticket booths, as well as plenty of x-ray machines, metal detectors, wands, vigorous interrogation by tall men in suits with intimidating voices, and people being forced to take their shoes off before being allowed to pass through the turnstile. Disneyland Security isn't messing around this time.
My fondest memory of Walt Disney was the day Disneyland opened....I was standing next to him - I was 12 years old - he was looking at the gate where people were coming through, he had his hands behind his back, he had a grin from ear to ear, but you could see the lump in his throat and the tear coming down his cheek because his dream had been realized. -- Mouseketeer Sharon Baird, "Mouseke-Memories", Walt Disney Treasures: The Mickey Mouse Club

Exactly how big is Disneylands security? Are we talking like 10 guys who just walk around and monitor the park, or are there some 30 or 40 guys in the back just waiting for somthing to go down.

I'm surprised they don't have metal detectors in storage for that.. heck universal had them.. (so finely tuned my glasses set them off... and I wore the same glasses to the airport and didn't set it off..)

There are a few others here who could answer that better, but there is a number of undercover officers who are in the park looking for suspicious activity.

I would be very surprised if anyone was just "in the back, waiting for something to go down"
