Loops in Space Mountain? 60 MPH in Space Mountain?

I am listening to the latest Official Disneyland Podcast right now (I am a bit behind on my Podcasts) and the guy that mixes the music said some interesting things... The host, Michael, asked the Recording Engineer, Ryan, how he comes up with songs for the rides. The host then asked Ryan if he wrote notes while on the ride. Ryan then said it is hard writing notes going through loops in the dark going 60 MPH!

For one, I know Space DOES NOT have any loops. And second, would anybody happen to know the top speed of Space Mountain?

35 mph. Not very fast. Seems faster because it's in the dark.

35 is the highest speed reached and is sustained for most of the ride.

35 is the highest speed but the real fun comes from rapid change in direction such as the first sharp turn

Maybe he also wrote the music for Paris' version? I know that version does have a loop and is incredible.

I think he was explaining it for CA Screamin' too, which has a loop and goes 55mph which is practically 60. Then for Space you have the dark etc.

I actually think he was talking about California Screamin'. He was working on that as well!

Maybe he was talking about a music loop? You know when the music restarts itself?

Maybe by "loops" he meant those corkscrew turns.... I guess a horizontal loop of sorts.
I've stuck my foot in my mouth so many times I don't think I'll ever get rid of the taste.

Michael Giacchino wrote the soundtrack for Anaheim Space and Space Mountain Mission 2 (which does have a very fast LIM launch and loops and corkscrews.) I don't know why they're asking some sound engineer this stuff.

Don't say "loops" and "60 mph", and "Space Mountain" unless you got some!
Seriously, I expected this thread to be something completely different!! Not unlike the HM Flag at half-staff thread

Does anyone know if 35 mph is the previous speed before the refurbishment? If it really is the post-refurb speed what was the top speed before the refurb?

The speeds closer to 32mph, and yes, that's what it was before reconstruction.

Re: Loops in Space Mountain? 60 MPH in Space Mountain?

The bad news is that there will be no loops, corkscrews or any other form of inversion installed in Space Mountain.

On the upside, Vekoma is designing a linear magnetic launching system for It's A Small World. This will occur along with the placement of two loops and anything else they can add in order to turn your world upsidedown....and provide lots of airtime in the process.

Additional great news is that a new rock track will also be worked into the ride. The name of the attraction will be changed to Rockin' Your Small World In A Big Way.
