Talking Is Spring Break a Good Time To Go?

    Hey gang,

I was thinking of taking the family during my kids' Spring Break, 3/19 - 3/23. We haven't been since October 2005. How are the crowds usually during that time, and the weather? Any comments would be helpful. Thanks!

What she said and then some. I'm not too bright so I always go for a couple of days over break.

One of our yearly trips to the Park is during mid-March, and we find it pleasant both weather and crowd-wise.

We've been doing March for quite a few years now. We stopped going in April because of spring break. I guess the later in March and closer to April, the more crowded it will be.

We're also going for the Easter w/e again this year.

    Enjoy!

The park will be PACKED. Trust me.

As far as the weather -- that time of the year you are going is iffy. It could be dry, but it could also be very rainy. So far we have had only 1.5 inches of rain which is very dry for this time of year. The weather people are saying that because there is still an El Nino in the Pacific, we are still due for more rain and in the past I remember seasons like this where it was dry until February and March and it rained almost constantly.

Of course the forecasts could all be wrong and we won't get this rain -- which is very bad because this means we will be facing a drought.

LOL.... It's okay, I picked up on the sarcasm! I know when we went in October, the weather was good and the crowds were non-existent. I might decide to do that again! Not to mention, I discovered Splash Mountain is being re-furbed right now. It's one of my favorite rides, and I'd hate to miss it!

Well, if Spring Break is the only time you can go, then do it. But be aware that it will be very busy and you will need a plan to get the most out of your Disney day. When the parks are super busy, it makes a lot of sense to get there at park opening so you can ride the big rides - don't forget to use your fastpass to the max - etc.

Do what you need to do. But if you have a choice, consider a slower season.

We went mid March last year and it wasn't bad at all. Definitely less crowded than Oct 2005 (we also went then, and no, we didn't win a car).

Basically, depends on how your Spring Break coincides w/ everyone else's.
Esp. the school districts in LA.

If it's ahread of everyone else or well-behind everyone else then it should be ok.
If it's in that week (Easter?) or after then it'll be very busy.

Several years ago when my kid's spring break was one
week ahead of everyone else. I don't think we waited longer than 30 min for any queue.

When is Spring Break this year for the LA/Orange Counties Schools.

I know they are all different, but a basic frame (beginning and ending) would be helpful. Is later April (farther away from Easter) better then early April?

Re: Is Spring Break a Good Time To Go?

You may want to do a Google search and see if you can find some school calendars for local districts. Being a teacher myself, I don't think the crowds will be very bad that early in March. Most schools are out the week before Easter, which is April 8. Some get out the week earlier, like I do.
