What to do with old motor boat cruise area

You know the little area on the right side of the walkway to "its a small world"? its got that little food stand and eating area.
Whel I think they should put a little mermaid themed ride there. I think there have been designes for a ride like this and I think this is a perfect place. I mean little mermaid takes place in the water (of coarse) and theres a lagoon there and it fits in fatasyland.

I don't know enough about your idea yet to make a decision. If you bring back the motorboats, and just have a Little Mermaid overlay, I might like the idea. But if you are thinking about taking the motorboats out entirely then I don't think it is such a good idea.

Oh, how sad to not have known about the motorboats...

That was the best ride ever!

    Yeah, we enjoyed the Motorboats!

    Sad to see them leave...

I'm up for another boat ride. Little Mermaid would be a cute idea.

    Thanks!

How about paddle boats? Much safer than motor boats. And no bumping!

Too many lawsuit happy people out there for that. Plus w/o any control over the speed (by pedalling) the wait times would be way too long.

Electric boats on a track would probably work best...

LegoLand has one. Works great! (and they don't have a track, just a course)

I'd rather have The Rescuers boat ride there: Boats could look like giant leafs with an "Evanrude" outboard motor. Trip could include going in between the two giant alligators.

Why did the motorboats come out?

I remember watching really old people driving them thinking they really had control. LOL

Hmm, I haven't voted yet but thought I find out more about what you have in mind for the ride.

If you're thinking of installing the Little Mermaid ride that the Imagineers have... imagined, the water in the area would actually not be needed. That ride is a Peter Pan style ride inside a show building. It would be visually interesting if the building resembled Triton's castle, but it might be a bit of an eyesore next to something as classic as Small World.

But hmmm... a Motorboat Cruise with a Little Mermaid layover with sections inside a show building and out? I think I would actually love that. Another throwback to the past but with a new theme that stays within the levels of fantasy.

I imagine a smaller Jungle Cruise style attraction but filled with music and song, equally stunning animatronics (yes, a massive ursula climax) all in a shaded river dark ride. Boats can either be detailed to look like ships of those days.. or even a more modest row boat where Eric and Ariel almost shared a kiss.

The only drawback to this style of ride is that you won't be going underwater.

Re: What to do with old motor boat cruise area

Well, first off they should build a Little Mermaid attraction already...They should have done it over 10 years ago... Along with other attraction based on "Animation Renausance" features they likely mothballed... The fact that Little Mermaid was so far along, is a travesty of justice...
