    The "second disneyland"

15 minute video of one of Charles Pheonix's tours of downtown LA with the rather tenuous premise that it is LA's second disneyland.

Once you get past the first minute or so's head spinning fast cut editing, it settles into rather a nice view of LA that most Angelenos I know wouldn't even think is LA.

I love how they've inter-cut the views of DL in with the vision and tied it altogether. If they re-edited the first minute or three it would be perfect.

You think you know LA? Well...

That was really neat. I didn't mind the opening that much. I am a native Angelino. Born and raised in Los Angeles (1948) I have been to most of those places. I enjoyed the shots of the old photos which bring back memories. China Town was always my Mom's favorite place to eat. Clifftons was an experience. Union Station is a must see. I wouldn't mind taking one of these tours and at $65 it is a bargain.

A second Disneyland, bah. But ... I'm glad I watched it anyway. I went to school and worked in Los Angeles for years, but I don't know L.A. much better than I know London, Paris, San Francisco, Orlando. This was a nice tribute to the city.

Victoria and I went on Charles Phoenix' tour of L.A. as Disneyland and thoroughly enjoyed our day. I'd recommend it to anyone with a sense of humor and a taste for history.

Seconded about the tour. Charlie is a funny guy and his tour shouldn't be missed.
EDIT: Gotta love that Clifton's Cafeteria!

OMG! Totally remember going to Bob Baker marionettes! No idea where to find it.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...
