    Space Mountain Fun Facts

Today in the mail I got my new Disneyland Annual Passholder News Calander and I thought I would post some Space Mountain Fun Facts that are listed inside, just for fun.

1.) Space Mountain is the world's first computerized indoor roller coaster.

2.) The new track features all right turns - until the last one.

3.) The space jargon you hear over the sound system in the queue is preformed by WED Imagineers who worked on the first version of Space Mountain in 1971.

4.) That "zip" sound you hear as you enter the re-entry tunnel is actually the sound of a jet airplane engine played backwards.

5.) The on-board audio system can hold 250 sound files and play any 16 of them at the same time.

6.) More than 1.3 million pounds of steel were used in the construction of the attraction.

New track? From what I've heard they're not changing the track at all, only the effects and music.

Exactly there were more then just one left turns on the old version. There were about 5 if I remember correctly.

okay lets see if we can count all of the left turns... after you are pulled up you make a left turn to start going down

Doesn't an "all-right-turn" coaster sound a little boring?

Cool stuff, I can't wait. I'm sure this has been posted before, but on the 2-disc Disneyland 50th park CD, there are two tracks, one is a heavy metal track that is labeled as Space Mountain and the other track is not so hard rock, but it's labeled Space Mountain (Daytime) so this really confirms the rumors that there is a day and night version of the rides

The same right turn, ya. Boring. But with alterations in HOW it turns and when, it could be interesting. The exciting part is "New track"!!! That was a suprise! I think they are trying to simulate orbiting. It would be interesting to see what exactly your orbiting

An all right turn coaster could be interesting, depending on how it's done. Maybe it 'isn't the exact same track desing as last time? hmm...

If you look up while in the ride you can see a FULL MOON! But be ready for stormy weather as Golden Showers and Mud Slides move in before the big flush.
