Disneyland "Dream Job" Promotion/Contest (Merged Threads)
For those of you interested, CareerBuilder.com is doing a special partnership with Disney for Disneyland, offering you the chance to get an "honorary" job.
You can send them a tape and apply to be a Pirate, Princess-In-Waiting, Jungle Cruise Skipper, Haunted Mansion Butler/Maid, or Parade Performer--for a day. It includes a free admission for the family to DLR.
The details are at:

Dang, too bad you can't be a character. I'd love to be one of those for a day. Or Tinker Bell flying down the Matterhorn during Remember... Now that's a dream job for a day!
Re: Disneyland "Dream Job" Promotion/Contest
I've been thinking about entering. Free trip, get to be a jungle crusie skipper, yeah, I'd do that.

What, no steam locomotive engineer positions?? :))

I'd love to be the janitor responsible for the Firehouse and Walt's old apartment above it.
Re: Disneyland "Dream Job" Promotion/Contest
I think the recent troubles with Disney Characters are why there are no character positions.
Parade performer??? Wasn't this something every guest could do not so long ago???
Re: Disneyland "Dream Job" Promotion/Contest
At first I was excited about this contest... then I realised it was working for free for a day at a place I'll probably be working at by the end of the year.

Well, you have to be able to look and act the part. It's one thing if your Jungle Cruise skipper has no idea what they're supposed to be doing. It's another thing if Cinderella isn't in character.
I think that the pirate and princess-in-waiting positions are the closest that are being offered, which will probably be just character hosting.
I sort of hope they offer the full, complete experience of working here, though, especially for the "skipper". Getting stuck in the boat for a solid hour because you drew the short straw on lunches, having a boat full of tourists who keep standing up to take pictures and don't speak English, getting your arm wrenched out of your socket by the guest who doesn't understand the term "elbow grabber"... These are all important elements of the Jungle Cruise experience. (Well, so is figuring out what kind of mood your boat is in, but I can guarantee that the winner won't be allowed to touch the throttle or the gun.)

I think that this whole thing is a cheap and tasteless marketing gimmick.
They can't actually hire people to staff the park, so they're giving the jobs away as if it's a prize to work at Disney? I hardly think so. I wonder how disgusted the thousands of under-paid, over-worked CMs feel about this tacky giveaway.
Yuck.
Re: Disneyland "Dream Job" Promotion/Contest
Soon, Disneyland will start charging people to work for it.
Disney has such gall.
