Disney Rides and the Animated Films that Inspired them

Nobody has yet, Barry, but I'm sticking with animated sources or films containing large portions of animation only. Hence, I left off Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and other portions of Great Movie Ride.

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned and I skimmed over the other threads, but another retired ride element of the Peoplemover which was the superspeed Tron tunnel (I know it had a more "official" name but I can't think of it right now).

Awesome, thanks for that. Tron certainly has enough animation in it to count so I added that in.

Also updated the list for more items in the Disney Afternoon category, including a link to the rarely seen Rescue Ranger Raceway autopia.

Damn, I was thinking about doing this same thing, though with a points system of sorts. You can add Tokyo's Tiki Room for Jungle Book as it uses Wanna Be Like You as the finale and you forgot Tiki Room UNM for Aladdin and Lion King.

Oh yes! Tiki Room Under New Management! (i guess i try to forget the really bad stuff).

I think unless Tokyo Tiki room uses Jungle Book as an actual reference other than song, it should be left off as songs can change much quicker than an actual story element or character.

Oh and the point system was certainly in my mind, but not until I knew for sure I had absolutely EVERYTHING. So if you can think of others I may have missed, it would be great!

Basically my points system idea would cover all bases: Restaurants, Meet and Greets, Shows and the attractions themselves.
Individual characters and each park they appear in would merit a single point for each.
Attraction and show points would depend on the size of the role the film plays. For instance, a flatout movie attraction would be 5 points, major roles that are shared with others would be about 3 points(I'd include even songs here, so Tokyo Tiki's use of Wanna Be Like You works in my eyes), and small references like those posters in Mickey's Philharmagic or the Bubble montage in WDW's Fantasmic would merit 1 point.
Restaurants would merit probably 3 points as well, same with shops.
If I ever took the time to calculate all these point values by each park, created some sorta pie chart showing how much presence the movies have in the parks by percentages. And prove once and for all that most of the so called cases of "TEH PIXARS AND TEH STITCHES ARE IN OUR PARKS, KILLIN' OUR ORIGINALITY" are just all merchandising and not much meats. Sweet attraction meats... Like what they need to do with the Incredibles, dammit...

The only reason I'm not including songs is because it can get really out of hand trying to pinpoint every song from a fireworks presentation, parade soundtrack, every show, every little hint of a song from a film would have to be accounted for. It's literally impossible to accurately tell what movie has what soundtrack and where. It's the very same reason why "disney animation" from DCA isn't placed on the list. Songs will remain a grey area for me, but you're more than welcome to do it if you like. It would be quite the accomplishment!


Oh and I just added a bunch of new things to the list from Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea. All foreign parks now have links that will take you to a page to see more pics and read more about the ride too. Photo reference is always fun.

And don't worry... I'll get to the stateside parks!

By my standards though, I'm guessing with Disney Animation, all the movies would just get a single brownie point. However, Fantasia, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid and Mulan would each get their respective points for those activities and show in the pavillion

You mean Little Mermaid, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast? Or is are you talking about a different Disney Animation attraction other than the mentioned DCA one? Then on top of the themed rooms, there are the clips that each room uses from the films or the characters you can be in the library. It gets a bit out of hand. I say keep it to attractions, restraunts, shops, and shows where they play a decent sized contribution (such as Peter Pan in Fantasmic! vs all of the movies in Wishes.)

Yah, that's how I feel too. There's too many variables when it comes to songs alone and only those who have been to the park since 1955 could really tell us how many points each film would really deserve. Then we'd really begin to see the older classics getting a massive amount of points wouldn't we?

Again, when you guys get some time, read over what's there and chime in with some new entries!

I suppose I should add a section that covers Mickey Mouse and friends so if someone would like to throw a few in, that would be great!

I get the point that it wasn't animated but Third Man was at least made by Disney, unlike the others mentioned.

Added a few more entries from Walt Disney World but need more help in that area, as I don't know the more specific shops and restaurant locations that may have a inspiration from animated films.
