![]() | Re: Disney Rides and the Animated Films that Inspired them Fantastic thread, that I'm late to have seen. Just one small correction--Brave Little Tailor wasn't from Fun and Fancy Free, it was a 1930s Mickey short--Fun and Fancy Free was made up of Bongo and Mickey and the Beanstalk (plus some connecting stuff with Jiminy etc) It does make me realize how kinda pathetic and sad it is that the classics of the Little Mermaid-late 90s second golden age of feature films have barely been touched for full blown attractions/rides E |

Thanks!! I completely missed that minor detail and updated the list. I also just added a number of closed stores and restaurant locations from the Magic Kingdom to the list, including "Duckburg". Links to photos available only on a few of the updated entries, but I'm working on getting more. Special thanks to Baghira for PMing me a great resource that helped me find many of the additions today.

I had Merlin's Magic Shop in there, and I considered the Villains Lair store for a little while but decided that it's just too vague of a store to be inspired by any one film. So I left it off. Thanks for the Briar Rose Cottage / Gifts though! But could you explain more about the Welch's Grape stand? How does that tie into Fantasia? And I had a little update of my own. Added the following closed locations: -Stromboli's Ristorante -Dalmation Plantation -Esmeralda's Cottage -Hugo's secret Chamber -The Sanctuary of Quasimodo -Brother Bear Totem Ceremony -Ugly Bug Ball -Calling All Scouts... A Buzz Lightyear Adventure -Ariel's Treasure Trove And added these still open locations: -The Lost Bar (a mice chat favorite) -Croc's Bits 'N Bites Also can someone confirm with me if the following Magic Kingdom locations are still open? -Pecos Bill Cafe -Sleepy Hollow -Scuttle's Landing -Mrs. Potts' Cupboard -Pooh's Thotful Shop thanks!

![]() | Re: Disney Rides and the Animated Films that Inspired them >>But could you explain more about the Welch's Grape stand? How does that tie into Fantasia?<< Welch's Grape Juice stand (old Fantasyland) was themed with a giant mural behind the counter, to the Pastoral Symphony "Bacchanalia" with the grapes and mythological creatures. - - and Primeval World is clearly inspired by Fantasia's Rite of Spring. The Villain's Lair (in Fantasyland anyway) was focused on several main animated feature villains (Wicked Queen, Maleficent, Captain Hook, Ursula, Cruella, Jafar, Queen of Hearts, Stepmother, Chernabog, Shere Kahn, Kaa, Scar and Hades in particular) and decorated with Snow White and Sleeping Beauty and Peter Pan touches. The NOS version was more a generic Nightmare Shop... (The Once Upon a Time/Princess Shops/Princess Faire could also be allocated in this manner to Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, B&B, Aladdin, Mermaid primarily). Melody Time: Don't forget Slue Foot Sue's Golden Horseshoe Revue in Disneyland - - Slue Foot Sue and Pecos Bill star in the show, sing the song and there were "stills" from the movie painted on the backdrop. Winnie-the-Pooh: The old Fantasyland (Mickey Mouse Club) Theatre showed Winnie-the-Pooh featurettes for at least a decade or more. What about the long-running semi-permanent musicals in the Videopolis/Fantasyland Theatre, such as B&B, Pocahontas and Snow White? Or Aladdin at DCA? Mary Poppins: How about the Practically Perfect Tea at PP Hotel? As for Disney live-action - Swiss Family Robinson, Davy Crockett, 20,000 Leagues, Babes in Toyland, Third Man on the Mountain, Westward Ho the Wagons, Mickey Mouse Club and Zorro influenced a number of park elements. ![]() | Re: Disney Rides and the Animated Films that Inspired them Philharmagic is the 3D movie where Donald uses the Sorcerers hat and then things get out of hand and Donald chases the hat through a few scenes of other animated movies. The movies he goes through are Beauty and the Beast (Be our Guest scene), Little Mermaid (Part of your World scene), Lion King (Just can't wait to be king scene), Peter Pan (flying over London and BIg Ben scene), and Aladdin (Whole New World scene) (I might have missed some). The scene he goes through are altered from the originals with Donals interacting with most of the characters. I would also say the nod to Fantasia is there with the hat and the orchestra. |

Sweet! I won't be able to see this until October but it's good to get an idea of what the film references. I'll add them now, thanks! That's very kind of you, thanks! And believe me I'm sure there's plenty I've missed out on! I hope our friends from the other regions takes a visit to this thread.

![]() | Re: Disney Rides and the Animated Films that Inspired them Hey, I just thought of something. Disney-MGM Studios had some animated attraction starring Robin Williams. Is it still there? What was it called? It definitely had a Peter Pan influence.

![]() | Re: Disney Rides and the Animated Films that Inspired them I LOVE the Disney Theatre/Musical productions: Snow White - the Enchanted Musical, Aladdin, Fantasmic!, etc. They know how to put on a great theatrical show and definitely have the budget to do so! I wish they would have more tho, especially now that Snow White's has left Does anybody know what the next show might be of and if there are any auditions for any of the productions?
