And as for the technicality about Halloween not making sense in space, um...since when does talking fish, man-sized mice, and a shoot 'em out space adventure with a being by the name of Zorg make sense?

When you get right down to it if it's made to look like it makes sense, it will. If it's done half-a**ed, it won't.

Talking fish from an animated film make sense in an underwater submarine adventure. The storyline of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, despite being poorly themed to Tomorrowland, makes sense - you're helping Buzz Lightyear defeat his arch nemisis - The Evil Emporer Zurg. And Mickey Mouse is an animated characrter- and the character that started it all, he's a Disney icon and makes sense being at a Disney themepark.

In their respective locations and in the contexts in which your examples are presented, they all make perfect sense.

Giant jack-o-lanterns and floating skulls in outerspace make absolutely no sense with the outerspace theme of Space Mountain.

Sorry, but I just don't buy your examples.

Fog would not be the best thing. Considering that Too much Fog in an enclosed building means not only bad eyesight when the lights come on for cleaning, but also health problems because even the safe smoke is dangerous when you breath in too much!

Re: Spooky Space Mountain/Haunted Space Mountain Idea...

It's a decent idea but I think we've had too many overlays lately (of SM and other attractions) and when this happens they become less special. Sort of like the endless promotions of the park, I mean at this point after the 50th, Halloweentime, the annual Christmas overlay, and now YOAMD I'd say enough already. I can't wait for "regular Disneyland" to return. Who knows if it ever will. I have a bad feeling we may go straight from YOAMD(R), to Halloweentime this fall, then Christmas and some other promotion.
I mean I like the promotions alright, and they're fine every once in a while to spice things up. It's nice to see the park decorated sometimes, like when your girl puts on nice makeup for a fancy date, but too much makeup all the time and you're dating a clown. Right now with all the Dream swirls (R), DL is starting to look more like a clown.
"Once a man has tasted freedom he will never be content to be a slave. That is why I believe that this frightfulness we see everywhere today is only temporary. Tomorrow will be better for as long as America keeps alive the ideals of freedom and a better life. All men will want to be free and share our way of life... I thank God and America for the right to live and raise my family under the flag of tolerance, democracy and freedom."
    -Walt Disney, March 1, 1941

“Whatever success I have had in bringing clean, informative entertainment to people of all ages, I attribute in great part to my Congregational upbringing and my lifelong habit of prayer. To me, today, at age sixty-one, all prayer, by the humble or highly placed, has one thing in common: supplication for strength and inspiration to carry on the best human impulses which should bind us together for a better world. Without such inspiration, we would rapidly deteriorate and finally perish. But in our troubled time, the right of men to think and worship as their conscience dictates is being sorely pressed. We can retain these privileges only by being constantly on guard and fighting off any encroachment on these precepts. To retreat from any of the principles handed down by our forefathers, who shed their blood for the ideals we still embrace, would be a complete victory for those who would destroy liberty and justice for the individual.”

Space Mountain infested with ghosts sounds cool actually. A haunted spaceship theme basically. I don't know how they would pull it off well though. There isn't a lot to theme in Space Mountain.

If you want to make a scary space mountain, there are plenty of scary movies that revolve around space so you don't have to put flying skulls and jack-o-lanterns.

    Alien anyone?

While doing some of those straight aways, The horseman could run along side of you. Via projection of coarse.

To be honest, I would rather have an Alien theme Halloween Mountian

True, I never thought of that. But, maybe just a little bit of fog that's water based. Something similar to what performers use on stage. If it was done this way then I don't think there would be hardly any complaints about it. And as for the visibility, if it was used sparingly in the right spots it could help whatever effect is at that particular location on the ride.

That's an awesome idea! I love it!

On a side note, I too think a cool alien touch to Space Mountain would be pretty cool.

Thanks guys for your positive feedback. It's always appreciated!

Wasn't there a Halloween movie or Friday the 13th or something like that took place in outer space on a space ship or something?
