    Rockin Space Mountain

I want to make a little critique about the new Rockin' Space Mountain.

While the Soundtrack is awesome, I feel that all the lights exposing the track layout has kind of ruined the fun. You see, the fun of Space Mountain was that it was all in the dark. And when they did this, I felt like there was no more fun to it.

Secondly, the theming is simply just a rock-concert-in-space.

    What do you guys think?

I'm glad this is only temporary, and it only goes until April.

I really like RHCP so I just enjoy the fact that one of my favorite bands has a song playing in one of my favorite rides. I enjoy getting a different view of the ride as well, sure you can see the track ... but if you're having fun that really doesn't matter.

Every Disney fan I've ever known has wanted to see the layout inside of SM. I'd much rather see it with rock music and disco/raver lights than awash in industrial looing fluorescent lighting.

But hey, it's temporary, so it's all good. I just wish they'd do something with that unlit mostly unnoticed hulking asteroid at the top of the first lift hill.

I think all the lights are deliberate. I think they want you to see the track. If they didn't then they wouldn't have put in the lights. The unfortunate side effect of this is that it slows the ride down, due to the fact that you can see where you are going.

I kind of like the rock-concert in space. Kind of reminds me of the carnival rides from the '70's and Space Mountain has always felt a little '70's to me.

What my feeling is, is that it's just different plain and simple. It's a different ride -- better in some ways, worse in others. But it will be gone in a few months anyway so I guess its best to "enjoy" it while it lasts.

    Hmmmm...personally, I like the chilis.

However, my Favourite band are MUSE, so out of curiosity I created my own Rockin' overlay of a ride (though it is obviously not the DL ride, cos it has loops) The overlay is of my own version of the paris SM, but it is still a rockin style overlay.

    enjoy!

Huh--did someone say they thought the ride was slower? I thought just the opposite--that it seemed much faster....lol

first time going on this felt slower but the second time felt fast, my only beef with rockin is the speakers are way too loud, so i put some napkins in my ears when i go on it now, makes it more tolerable.

I LOVE IT! It's great "Rockin' Style"! I didn't notice it slower, and actually seems a lil more aggressive (maybe cause I was sitting in the back?). But I like the "ROckin" theme, even though System of a Down song would've been a lot better.
