I heard the purchase order on the construction of that model was for over a million dollars, including salaries for people building it and the research and materials. So I hope it doesn't go on Ebay for $20,000 to some nerdy collector.
If it's removed from Main St, I'd rather it go to Disney Gallery or Disneyland Hotel or someplace on the Disney property.
I like the idea of Hall of Presidents coming to Main Street but unless the next President of the United States has a really good relationship with Mr. Iger, I don't think he or she's going to be represented at a Disneyland attraction.
I think I know which one you're talking about. Isn't that the one where they were selling mini replicas of the park by sections only? Each time I went up there, they had a few added to the park. The model in the Opera House now is completely different. Too big to have fit in the gallery upstairs of PotC.
Since there are two empty rooms where Walt's offices used to be, why not A) return at least one of the offices, and B) put the Disneyland model into the other room? I don't know if there will be room for people to walk around the model or not. If not, the model could be angled up so that we can get a sort of bird's eye view at least.
I'd say put it in the Disney Gallery, where the model would fit in appropriately, however, the space just isn't there.
The Opening Day model is very impressive, and shouldn't just be put in storage somewhere, but ultimately, it has no place in a show about Abraham Lincoln.
I say find somewhere else that is appropriate for the Opening Day model and bring back the Capitol model if Lincoln ever does return. The only problem would be to find an appropriate and big enough room for the Opening Day model.
