Just one word I have to say. Or maybe three. WOW & how sad. Pretty damn sad that the rude CM even pointed City Hall to you guys knowing you would complain for this type of attitude. Not that I want Disneyland to have rotten CM's like this guy but maybe that's what it'll take to make them see that they can't hire anyone off the street to work here anymore. It's time they raise the pay for the CM's who want to work here (not this guy though, hope he gets fired, seems like he's asking for it anyway). Good for all of you for saying everything you guys saw in City Hall and with the managers in front of the Emporium. Let's just hope this party pooper of a CM won't be near any guests with small children because he doesn't want to take their picture with Mickey because their camera isn't perfect 24/7. How incredibly sad. Just the fact that even Mickey pleaded with him to re-take the picture and got dismissed is awful.

You, know. I am 38 years old, and I remember one time when I was really little, I must have been less than 6 or 7 I saw Mickey Mouse at Disneyland. This was before the days of character escorts. I remember when I saw him he was walking toward a backstage area obviously going on his break and I ran up toward him from behind him, and he actually waved me off, the motion of his hand indicating, "I can't stop for you, I have to get somewhere important!"

I remember being upset. That's about it though. These were back in the days when people didn't complain about such things though so that's the end of that story. It is really just a fleeting memory...

I bet the rude CM thought it would end with a brush off by city hall, and not a chat with managers. Love to hear what happened to him. I would assume that most guests don't know the "ropes" and it probably falls on deaf ears. I had a battery failure once and the cm let me change batteries and retake the photo, no problem.

Yikes, actually getting the "move-along" from Mickey Mouse!!?? That would be traumatic! This is why I always liked Goofy better--he has no concept of time nor responsibility!

I'm glad you said something. Wife and son and I were at the park yesterday (I was having a 'good day' cancer-wise) and we saw Mickey out in Town Square area - so your experience must have happened shortly after we walked by - as we left the park around 5pm or so.

I guess the best part of the evening was that it ultimately didn't run our day. We had a tremendous day at both parks.

I did make sure I told the managers about how cool Mickey was and that we had other great CM experiences throughout the day. This one just soured our experience a little.

Interesting that when we met up with Mickey again at his house that he seemed to have forgotten about the mess on Main Street. But that's another lesson learned from the big cheese, let it roll of your back.

And as for being middle aged... I'm 21.

    Yeah, right.

As far as middle aged goes, I plan to live a lot longer than 70 (I'm 35) and whichever cast members are around when I'm that old better be ship-shape or I'll wave my walker or cane at them...

Honey, you can't complain about being called middle aged to me.

I am sorry to hear about the rude CM and I am happy that you pointed out the incident to management. When you work for Disney you need to leave your life problems at the door and make each guest's experience magical. Maybe he was having a rare bad day but you don't take that out on guests wanting to see Mickey. Walt definately would not be proud of this person. Glad to hear Mickey was all chatty and fun for you!

Mickey was exceptional. First he was doing the white glove inspection of his area, then he called us over excitedly, then he gave us hugs, showed us his new duds modeling it for us (doing a turn and all that), then he showed us his Mickey shaped cuff links which he was proud of... I mean all that business was wonderful. A really great Mickey.

That's not just a Disney attitude. That's just common sense good customer service.

Correct! And because you say it would be good customer service, because it's Disney, they need to take THAT a notch higher.

    You are correct.

Since I was 15 I've had assorted guest interaction jobs: fast food server, bank teller, custom framer, store manager, non-profit donor relations... and never would I treat someone like he did. It's just not in me. If I did treat someone as badly, I would expect to be called on it and suspended or fired for it.

Pretty funny he knew he'd be complained about, i found that part hilarious. I mean, that's just sad you asked his name and he automatically knew you were going to complain...And he didn't care.
