    Challenge Trail in Condor Flats?

For DCA in response to Country Bears & Condor Flats retheme:

    1) Was thinking if Challenge Trail was used for a Country Bear dark ride, could a new more themed Challenge Trail exisit around the Condor Flats area when that gets rethemed.

Like having a entry/exit of the course run from the west end, go above the the Fly n Buy shop, and go down on the east end of Condor flats. Hopefully with more rockwork and such. The jet testing mister might/may go and the challenge trail maybe go up and around Soarin's FP & exit ramp. I think the Fly n Buy may be themed as craftsman stlye, but a cave theme may also work to support the challenge trail.

    2) I like the small Brother Bear & cave as well. So I was also thinking maybe these can be saved/updated. Maybe a new stage (same locale?) be enclosed like Knott's Mystery Lodge, but has a in-the-round floor seating (kinda like Playhouse Disney). The center has a fireplace, the walls have animal totem poles, above the fireplace is a fake movie-screen hole to look like a night sky. The floor has 2-4 aisle. As the show begins with Brother Bear's "transformation" song, fogscreens turn on and you get the affect of The Great Spirits being in the asile. The totems come to life and the storyteller tells the story of "The Raven" (a Pacific Northwestern legend) with the fogscreen, smoke, lighting, sound, fiber optic, & fireplace effects. At the end of the show, the fogscreens remain on and the audience can interact with it as they leave (The Great Spirits will react to the audience).

Perhaps the BB cave effect could be outside the attraction (like Snow White's golden apple) to kinda lore guests inside the attraction, or be part of the queue as guests wait... and of course a specific place outside the show building along the main path for Brother Bear meet-n-greet.

I don't care about the challenge trail, but I second your motion to use the space for The Country Bears in any form, show or ride!

Bear Country revival in DCA? ooooooh, interesting though.

You know as they say... good ideas never die.

Re: Challenge Trail in Condor Flats?

Reason why I was thinking of relocating the Challenge Trail was because a few already said it is DCA's TSI playground. Some actually like it. I don't usually go in there myself. But one of these days just to do something new. So that's why I thought of this. To read what your reaction is.

Re: Challenge Trail in Condor Flats?

I had a similiar post last week. Move the majority of the equipment against the mountain replacing the Fly and Buy shop and have the bridge act as a frame to this new area, having guests climb up on the Soarin side, cross over the main walkway, and down against the mountain into the play area.

My attraction for the old space was different though. I had a crazed collector's run down lodge filled with evidence of Bigfoot, Mt Shasta's mysteries, and the Wendingo. The attraction is much like Alien Encounter, except our crazed host is proving the existance of the Wendingo by showing us that he has in fact captured the creature. It raises up out of the floor with an industrial lift, is chained down with electric chains which shock the harder the creature pulls. Storm causes power outage and the creature gets loose.

The reason I planned such a show (besides loving Alien Encounter and believing they could improve upon it) was I saw there was no real room for a darkride. It would have to be incredibly tiny, and I think the last thing DCA needs is another attraction that is limited by space or money.

Professortango, didn't know you posted that. Or did I? I can never keep track of who said what . I remember the Bigfoot idea, but don't remember a storm causing the power outage. I actually think I commented saying it was an interesting idea. But I didn't read about a relocation for Challenge Trail, and that's why this thread was created

Instead of a Bigfoot inspired Alien Encounter, I thought of a family ski-lift style ride where you go in, out, and around a mountain and encounter Bigfoot. Haven't thought of a solid place to put it.

AbominableSnowman1, I can't stop! Mahahaha! Maybe since I've been going to college and having more freedom, I've been thinking of more ideas. ALso the addition of less nagging parents and boring college work I don't want to work on

I just tweaked the story line with the storm. Windows in the indoor queue have storm picking up more and more. Giant room has a few skylights with lighting and rain. The CM tries to advise the host on postponing the event due to the storm. I thought it would be a nice effect to have flashes of lighting illuminate the room. Combined with a few trick pannels in the walls, the Wendingo could appear right above guests hanging from the wall like a lizard.

And I'm all with you about creating these ideas. I generally read the boards before heading off to my graveyard shift at a casino, where I stand for 8 hours being bored and thinking about what I just read. Then these ideas start to form.
