Why do you love DisneyLand BETTER than DisneyWorld?

DON'T MOVE THIS! This fits here, just let me explain...

In this disneyland section, I am asking why you love DisneyLand Beter than DisneyWorld. Give your response. I am also adding a thread on the DisneyWorld section which will ask the same thing but the opposite (why do you love disneyworld better than disneyland). If you DO love disneyworld better than disneyland, go to that section and explain there..Dont' say "but I love disneworld better" instead just go to that area. Two areas...One question

Why do you love disneyland better than disneyworld?

I think you mean Disneyland vs. the Magic Kingdom or do you mean Disneyland Resort vs. Walt Disney World.

THOSE are the proper match ups.

DisneyLand (cal) DisneyWorld (florida) is how I've always been told... But yes, that's what I mean. Cal vs Florida.

WDW has 4 parks...you can't compare 4 parks to DL. To be fair you should only compare DL to the MK at WDW as stated by NickCharles.

So...why is DL park better than the MK? Is that what you're asking?

Yes, it's "Disneyland" and "Walt Disney World."

Re: Why do you love DisneyLand BETTER than DisneyWorld?

But what if you don't like one better than the other?

I love Disneyland, it's small and familiar and home
Disneyland reminds me of my adulthood.

But WDW is big and exciting and has a better Big Thunder...
WDW reminds me of my childhood.

I love them BOTH... which child do you love better?
I love them both, for different reasons.

    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Re: Why do you love DisneyLand BETTER than DisneyWorld?

I like Disneyland better than the MK because:

    1. It is the only Park that Walt walked in.
    2. It's the original.
    3. It's much more intimate than the MK
    4. Disneyland feels real... the MK feels like a copy. They made everything at the MK bigger to accomodate the anticipated crowds, and frankly it killed the thing that makes it's predecess, Disneyland, so special.
    5. Taking a train ride on the MK train isn't nearly as cool as Disneylands Train. Plus we have the Grand Canyon Diorama and Primevil World
    6. Disneyland has the Matterhorn!
    7. Disneyland has Walts Apartment!
    8. Disneyland has Club 33!
    9. Disneyland has the Blue Bayou!
    10. Disneyland has Indiana Jones.

    Somebody help me here...

Re: Why do you love DisneyLand BETTER than DisneyWorld?

We've had this thread a million times, but I'll respond anyway. Also, you're not likely to get many people saying "I like WDW more" because this is a very Disneyland-based board.

Anyway, I've been to Disneyland more times than I can count and The Magic Kingdom twice (both times on the same vacation) and they both have strengths.

The MK castle is absolutely huge and I don't like it very much. The one at DL is kind of charming in its relative small size. The overall planning of WDW seems a bit "off," too. The paths are really wide and the theming doesn't seem to be as concentrated, if that makes sense.

A lot of the rides are very similar, and some are better at each park. Our Space Mountain is much better, for instance, because it's newer. However, I do really like the SM in Florida. The queue is really long and much, much better than the queue in California. Also, it's hard to ride Splash Mountain in California after going on their version. It's the same ride (the boats are five rows of two side-by-side seats, though) for the most part but their version is so much nicer looking.

Also, Florida gets points for having the Peoplemover. Their Tomorrowland is probably better than ours at the moment, if only because most of the rides are still operational.

Red Face Re: Why do you love DisneyLand BETTER than DisneyWorld?

I've been to both, in consecutive years, and both for the celebration of the Happiest Celebration On Earth (WDW) and Happiest Homecoming on Earth (DL). Either way, in comparing WDW to DLR or Disneyland to the Magic Kingdom, Disney's West Coast property dominated in every aspect. Traditionally, whichever resort or park you visit first is the one you love the most and favor. Not for me. I've gone to WDW and the Magic Kingdom on about 6 different vacations at different ages, the most recent being at age 15. I was 16 when I lost my virginity to Disneyland. Let me tell you, Disneyland owns. I'm not biased, I can't be, because East Coast is what I call home. Disneyland and the entire DLR give you the feel Walt truly intended, as well as the better attractions being all over on the West Coast. Don't believe me? In my opinion, Splash Mountain West owns Splash Mountain East...hopping B'rer Rabbit isn't that great, and it's been broken for about 2 years. Space Mountain East is pale in comparison to the incredible West Coast version. Furthermore, Haunted Mansion and Pirates in Anaheim blow away the competition in Orlando by a long shot. Specifically, by a cleaner facade for Mansion in a stronger New Orleans Square over Liberty Square and by a longer Pirates with a gorgeous Blue Bayou restaurant built into it. Plus, Magic Kingdom lacks three very important words...Indiana Jones Adventure. Furthermore, Fantasmic! on the Rivers of America completely destroys everything MGM'S Fantasmic! stands for. I was worried that Disneyland and the entire DLR would fail to live up the hype I had for it, especially after being a usual WDW visitor. I'm glad that worry faded away when I walked out of the Grand Californian, walked down the streets of Downtown Disney about 50 paces and wound up in front of the Main Street Train Station and seeing on my opposing side huge C A L I F O R N I A letters. Park hopping is literal and actually possible in Anaheim. Parkhopping is a gimmick in Orlando, it takes about three hours to physically board a monorail or catch a bus, and re-enter another park or stop at a hotel. Disneyland, park hopping is exactly what it says. Want to stop at your hotel? Take a 5 minute walk. Disneyland might be physically smaller, but it felt more homestyled and welcoming than feeling like being machined through a factory at the Magic Kingdom. Disneyland feels bigger, it has more lands and the lands it does have are themed better than they are at the Magic Kingdom. Plus, the majority of the key attractions that are found at EPCOT, MGM, and Animal Kingdom are majorly found in DCA. If I had to pick WDW or DLR...hands down DLR. I've converted to the West Coast, and Disneyland is my new home.

I'm willing to give any more information if anyone wants more. Disneyland is better.
-A West Coast Convert...and glad I lost it to Disneyland over the summer
