    Steakhouse 55...any suggestions?

    Hi Gang,
I have reservations w/ my boyfriend at Steakhouse 55 on Valentine's Day.
I haven't been since the remodel (in fact haven't been for many years) and wanted to know if anyone else has?
Anything i should try? Stay away from?

    Thanks in advance!

Just ate there last Saturday night. It was quite possible the worst meal I've had in DLR. Stay away from the filet mignon - it was tough and livery tasting. And for some reason, the bartender could not get any of our drink order right.

Oh! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to ruin your plans! DH had prime rib, and he said that it was fine. Another person at the table had the chicken breast, and it looked good. The spring greens salad with raspberry dressing was a bit different than I expected. The raspberry dressing was not sweet as you'd expect it to be, but it was pretty salty to me. The roasted potatoes were tasty. Avoid the broccoli - nothing special. Asparagus was white asparagus and a bit tough.

I was there recently, but before the change, and before PrincessY. Of course experiences will vary, but my own experience was quite good. No exaggeration when I say it was the best steak I've ever had, with exemplary service. Hopefully PrincessY's experience was a fluke, and it will work out well for you!

My understanding was that it was only a name change. Other than new signage and logo on the menus...all else remains the same as when it was Granville's.

Last time we ate there was a month or two ago just as the name was changing. We had fantastic steaks and filets there.

I have not eaten there for dinner (only breakfast and it was very good), but those who I have spoken with had rave reviews. The prices aren't all that bad either (in relation to the parks). I too was thinking of finally eating there for dinner this next trip.

    Re: Steakhouse 55...any suggestions?

I went there back in January and it was just fine. The filet mignon my buddy got was delicious and so was my porterhouse.

    There it is:

Also tried the creme brulee dessert and it was amazazing.

the only thing I'd be cautious about is when you want medium... maybe tell them medium rare. I wanted a medium steak... and I got medium well. Just a hair too dry. So just keep that in mind.

where's frogberto?? he has some things to say as well. Or we can just dig up that old thread.

I had the exact opposite problem. I wanted medium and I got medium rare. My steak was just bad all around. I hope it was just a bad night. But I am not going back any time soon to find out! Too much money for a bad meal.

Thank you guys for all the info!
    The pics look great!
As much as I love creme brulle, we've got our hearts set on chocolate souffle.

To throw my two cents into the ring, I always enjoy Hooks Pointe, as their steaks are mesquite grill cooked. Granville/Steakhouse 55 does not have that luxury.
Does the Steakhouse 55 have a special Valentine's menu? Often on Valentine's restraunts do that, and it is actually differnt from their regular menu, and pricier.

I'm right here! I ate there two months ago and thought everything was good. The atmosphere is really fantastic, and the food is below what you'd expect from a high end steakhouse, but still good for the price.

You can see all my pics from the dinner at:
