the original Carousel of Progress at Disneyland, before they moved it to WDW? Those who have, chime in. I sure miss it very much.
So, yes, I had the opportunity to experience quite a bit before it went.

Many times. Still miss it!
"If you don't know how to draw, you don't belong in this building" - John Lasseter 2006
I was on it the first day it opened, and the last day when it closed.
And a whole lot of days inbetween!
Even when I go on it at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World (last time just 3 weeks ago)...I still think how much I miss the original show and the original "Father."
I like the current show very much. It's just that I also miss the original one.
I enjoyed it many times.
I too am sad...
FYI, It was not moved to WDW :P WDW got a new one with a new song and even when they returned to the old song as it is now, it's still different from the one at Disneyland.
According to the EXtinct Attractions dvd, which has interviews with Disney legends, the COP was initially moved over to WDW intact, but after a short time the GE execs did not like the theme song anymore, they thought it was outdated, so in stepped the Sherman brothers and they wrote Now Is the Time song. Again, after a number of years, they reverted back to the original theme song of It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow and yes the show elements are different from the original.
The current voice ofthe dad is horrible, in my opinion and does not come even close to the voice of Rex Allen, the original father in the show.
On a side note, i used to own the mini poster of the COP attraction and then I sold it to another Disney collector. Now I can kick myself in the rear for doing that, because it cannot be found anywhere.
I too was there when it opened and again when it closed. I do like the original show better than the newer one. I also enjoyed America Sings and really miss them both.
Peter Pan Forever!!! I Will Never Grow Up.
Thank You Poisonedapples
Me! Me! I miss it too. I have been going to DL since the 1960's, and was on it many times.
I loved COP and it was one of my favorites growing up. Couldn't wait to see it at WDW last year and went on 3 times and took pictures of every scene. It was great seeing it again!
Been to both! I think I liked the older, original finale better than the current one. Actually I know I liked it much better! The whole virtual reality game that the grandma and the kid play is just too "yesterday". There's got to be something more futuristic than that! Plus I hate the Turkey on fire...
It is a lot of fun to visit if you're ever in FLA. I'm glad they keep it going, hope they update it again soon.

Not I... that was before my Disneyland Time!![]()
No words, My tears won't make any room for more,
And it don't hurt, like anything I've ever felt before, this is
No broken heart,
No familiar scars,
This territory goes uncharted...
My father had the privilege of visiting the ORIGINAL attraction at the 1964 NY World's Fair. He still talks about how awesome all of the Disney attraction were and how they were the talk of the fair.
We've had the chance to relive them throught the Extinct Attraction Club DVD's and they've brought back a lot of memories.
I have only been to the one at WDW. I still love the show...but you are correct....Rex Allen was the man...Literally.![]()
