Rainy Days and Sundays Always Make Me - A Winner! There be photos ahead.

The forecast for the day was: WET.

When I woke up and looked outside: wet.

Do I have any pictures of D-Land wet? No!
Great excuse to throw on the old clod-hoppers, grab the umbrella, and hit the beach, er... Park!

From the Mickey and Friends structure:

It was still raining pretty good when I got there a little before 10AM

    Looking the other way:

    More wet!

Guess what you could see from the escalator:

    Where Wet... umm...
    Year of a Million Wet....
    nevermind

    Mad dash to the trams:

I love fountains in the rain:

The water mocks us as we pass.

It never rains in California (Adventures that is)

    Die-hards (and Washingtonians) file in:

And the even more die-hard Washingtonians stand in front of Mickey for that special shot:

Hey, this is a sunny day for Spokane!

    Very popular archway:

The drivers of the Main St vehicles suit up and keep on rolling:

    Small rivers:

And a look down Main Street, USA!

The horse didn't seem to notice anything unusual:

You just didn't want to get too close his fur. Whew!

    The Hub of Moisture:

    Slobbery dog:

    Down boy!

Here is a person trying to use a large, wet marble as an umbrella:

That sub could come in handy right about now:

Or at least a Motor Boat?

    It's a Wet World:

    After all.

    Oh dear!

Let's see what other Fantasyland attractions we have.. Teacups?

    Nope.

    They do look pretty though...

This one even has a barricade and a guard and it doesn't even move!

Nothing to see here. Keep moving.

And nothing keeps the crowds from Peter Pan:

Taking the back way into Frontierland and checking in on my favorite Shed-izens:

Side note: I heard a story that domestic turkeys are so dumb that when it rains, they look up to see where the water is coming from.... until they drown. So I guess these really are the happiest (and luckiest) turkeys on Earth.

    Big Thunder running on empty:

Let's get a gander at the Tom Sawyer Pirate Island:

All the roped-off net things seem to have disappeared.

    Duck on a boat.

    Duck Blanket Bingo

    Raft:

    Entrance:

What's that sign in the middle there?

Well that settles that! Pirates ARE in the book! Says so right there!

Mark Twain always meant to expand on the whole pirate thing anyway but just never got around to it because of all that fence painting and river rafting and Injun Joe nonsense!

And then Diane Keaton and her small group walked right past me.
I was holding my camera and everything but I didn't even recognize her in time.
She was wearing a black bowler hat and a black quilted coat thing that went down to her ankles and she wore glasses so there wasn't much to recognize anyway.

Later, a fellow Mice Chatter mentioned how she visits there frequently, even going so far as saying something to the effect of "It's like she LIVES here!"
The irony of such a statement struck me momentarily dumb.

Back to my wanderings - this caught my attention:

It's just a vending cart next to Cafe Orleans but it looks like such a cool old hearse. Is this where they sell the brightly colored parasols? Such a shame to cover up such a perfectly dreary cart.

The water was starting to really come down:

Or it might just be the Tarzan waterfall.

And I had to show this picture just to show that I am not making this up:

The Indy FP was closed - and it says for the whole day!

    Approximate Wait Times Are:

    Wet

Over by the Plaza Inn, this security CM had some snax for the ducks:

Cheerios! Those ducks need to get heart-smart after all the french fries they eat.

    Dreamswans attack!

Maybe they are just protecting this little guy:

    They will never tell.

    "Hissssssss!"

And these fish are too scared to pop up anymore:

They just stay down there during the Snow White song.

And then there was some kind of commotion inside the castle with a Dream CM, so I checked it out and got this:

    My first ever Dream Prize!

I was even lucky enough to make Darkbeer's photo report for the day:
    http://darkbeer.smugmug.com/gallery/2460714#129077452

That's me! Mr. Low Level Prize Winner!

And then something else miraculous occurred:

    The Wet started to shimmer.
    And the air grew warmer.
    And then...

    I went blind.

Even more pictures (with actual people you might recognize) coming up soon..

    Brilliant!

Oh, and all the roped-off net things disappear every night before Fantasmic, and reappear every night when it's done, thanks to some magical bumblebees. It's actually a pretty easy setup to get up and down.

I believe it's only given to people who win the Dream Prizes. If you read the button it says "Where My Dream Came True" which would imply it was recieved with another "Dream."

There really is nothing better than a day at the Park in the rain. No tourists, short lines and some of the rides are even more fun!!

Re: Rainy Days and Sundays Always Make Me - A Winner! There be photos ahead.

So after the Sun came out and started drying things off, I headed back over to get on the Twain to see what kind of Pirate Island shots I could get.

On the way, I tripped over a Bookworm in the Hub:

Yes, our very own aerinpegadrak getting a little Pynchon the bench.

After a quick Hello, I left her to her scholarly pursuits (lest she end up like me) and headed across Adventureland.

Now, this just had the sign up saying no FP's for the rest of the day:

    Working fine now!

From the Twain, I could see this:

    Outhouse

The top level was closed, presumably due to Inclement Weather:

    But hey!

In my favorite part of the boat, I did run into a rather well-preserved older gentleman:

I hope I look that good when I am ancient!

Then I got a call from snow_white_raven. She was on her way in and wanted to have brunch and maybe a ride and get in some Hub time before her shift started at 1:30. She was getting on the Monorail at DTD, so I hopped off Twain, swam back to shore... Oh that's right. We hadn't left yet.

Over at Tomorrowland, I noticed these beauties:

Picture booths! Or voting booths? I didn't go in, so I don't really know.

And over at Jedi Squeegee Academy:

    The battle over wetness continues.

    Oh, there's the Monorail now:

And here is snow_white_raven with a red bag filled with Valentines goodies for everyone:

After a quick brunch at Tomorrowland Terrace (where Diane Keaton's group walked right past us), we were off to see the new Alice projections.

On the way, Teacups being pumped:

Alice was back in business and the line not too long, so in we went:

The CM was so nice and friendly...

as she pressed the EJECT button.

The new projectors they have look very good, especially that poor flying hedgehog that looked so blah for so many years.

And then we were outside again:

And it looks like we just beat the crowd:

Then it's time for the noon Meet because it was already like 12:20 or something. We ran into Darkbeer, who took the shots of my Dream Swag at the castle and then to the Hub:

It was such a great day after all! The rain was gone and it warmed up really nicely.

    snow_white_raven and the adorable mousercise
SWR says those are her "X-Ray Specs".
Why is she smiling like that?

And speaking of smiling and adorable:

There's BFJen all the way from Idaho! Heck, this is t-shirt weather!

I guess she did trade her husband for pins?

It warms up nicely and Sadako begins to swoon:

And would you give your AP to this man?

Sam says "Who loves you, baby" while MonorailMan tries a few of his latest moves.

And there is NeverNeverLand with Crazy Legs and BFJen:

We head over to Whitewater Snacks.

    Main Street Grrrrlz

Having just eaten, I head over to Paradise Pier where I know a helpful CM who can take my jacket and umbrella for a while. While there, I thought this artwork was pretty interesting:

Is this supposed to be the view from the MaliBoomer?
    I have not been.

    And then to Whitewater:

    Surprise!
Darkbeer and Coheteboy turn around for a good shot and DeeOhGeesMom, almandot, and David Lane on the other side.

And after a short intermission, you will witness the terror of...

    The Single Riders Meet!

    DON'T say you weren't warned.

Re: Rainy Days and Sundays Always Make Me - A Winner! There be photos ahead.

So after our lunch at Whitewater, it was about time for the Single Riders Meet over at Snow White's Grotto/Well/Singing Place.

I am currently between wives so I figured What The Heck!

It's always Picture Time with Mice Chatters:

MonorailMan and Crazy Legs get in some castle shots while a Dreamswan watches them nervously.

And here are mousercise, the very clever and funny Wally, and NeverNeverLand who is hilarious and fun to be with:

    The well:

I think these are two different sentiments:
    1. Your wishes will help.
    2. CHILDREN EVERYWHERE!

The Single Ridin' Posse rounds up:

    Coheteboy, mousercise, Wally, NNL, StitchTT6

Crazy Legs gets some snaps of the terrified fish:

And then we get the Pocky Party started:

    Mousse (later dubbed Mouse) Pocky!

    Always room for Pocky:

We met up with DontBeCheekin and were off to her namesake ride:

I never noticed the incredible detail on this sword handle before!

And how do you follow the thrill of Pirates?
    Winnie the Pooh of course!

While in line (OK there was a 2 minute wait), Coheteboy mentioned the construction stuff across the way on Splash Mtn so I strained my camera's capabilities to get these:

Little blue flags sprouting up all over.

    And scaffolding too.

We were a comfy fit in a car:

Coheteboy, mousercise, StitchTT6, NNL, Wally, DBC

    And then I got in!

I think I owe Coheteboy a very special Valentine. Or at least a few flowers.

And since mousercise had never been on the Explorer Canoes, off we went!

Or most of us. Stitch = Landlubber

    My ride buddy:

NNL: Keep your hands over there oar you'll get this in yer face.

Then on to Underappreciated Attraction quest!

    First stop: ToonTown!

But on the way, a couple of pics of the (now sunny) Small World:

We got FP's for Roger and then spent some time checking out the gag boxes and doors:

Stitch has a shocking experience with the Electric Company door.

And then on to the Underappreciated Gadget Go-Coaster line ride:

And then for the Underappreciated Chip 'N Dale Treehouse. No pictures of that because it was over practically before it started. Is it really possible to under-appreciate that particular "attraction"?

And then it was time to act goofy while waiting for the Roger Rabbit FP's to come due:

Wally learns that revenge is a dish best served.... Jolly.
    or...
Stitch attempts to rename this vehicle the Wally Trolly.

And DontBeCheekin gets her favorite underappreciated beverage. Sour Watermelon Slushie:

And we all underappreciate the effect it has on her tongue.
And then I get to be her ride buddy on Roger!
Seriously, it was great fun. We had the cab spinning like crazy. I am dizzy just thinking about it.

After that, it was on to Underappreciated Snow White with the underappreciated and invisible apple out front.

Wally, Stitch, NNL get ready to disembark.

Our hunger getting the best of us, we headed over to DCA where we were going to get something to eat (and maybe drink?) at the Cove Bar.

I got my stuff from my very helpful CM and when I got to Cove Bar, a very sad sight:

    CLOSED!

I wish my camera took a better picture of the dejected looks on the faces.

We ate at Pizza Ooo Mau Mau (sp?) and then decided to Gumball Flick's Fair!
It took maybe 20 minutes (with a bathroom break).

    That's right!
W went on Heimlich's Chew Chew and got squirted with the watermelon and everything.

And then my camera stopped taking pictures. Something to do with the Power Cells Buzz is always talking about.

The now-famous Fun Flyer ride was the BEST - all 6 of us in one Chineese food box. And with 6 you do not get eggroll.

We went Soarin' ran into Crazy Legs again, went back to DL, and I stayed with Sadako, Sam, almandot, and MASECA! (formerly Monorail_Blue) at their fireworks encampment. The show was terrific and it was the first time I have seen it since it came back.

I skipped Fantasmic! and went to the Kodak place to get a free 5x7 of the 2nd Anniversary castle photo. I had my Photo Pass with me. I got pose #8 for those keeping score.

And then back to Reality Land!

Hope you had fun reading and to steal a gag from the great Fishbulb:

    THE END
