~~*Dinner at the Napa Rose - 2/10/2007*~~

We had heard such great things about the Napa Rose that my girlfriend and I decided to finally try it out as a pre-Valentine's Day dinner.
















We called almost a month in advance to make reservations. However, I don't think the reservations were necessary because people were able to walk in without too long of a wait.
















We were blessed to be served by one of the greatest sommeliers I’ve ever met, Saucy. He was very knowledgeable and when we inquired about the Rieslings on the list, he led us to a couple other 'secret' bottles available that’s not listed. And thanks to Saucy, we were really pleased with his suggestion. And he wasn't even trying to 'upscale' either, this dude was on the ball and Frenchy wanted to take him with us to have him around every time we eat!





There was a great selection of bread to start off with!














For an appetizer we shared The Sizzling Beach Rock (garlic seared shrimp, soy glazed spare ribs and lemon grass chicken cooked on a hot beach stone). Everything was very tasty. My girlfriend enjoyed the peanut noodles that were under the ribs the most.













French25fan had the soup of the season I forgot the name but it was tasty (and a little runny).














I ordered the Pear Salad (Salad of Comice Pears, Shaved Fennel, Mizuna and Lola Rosa with Prosciutto, Fiscalini Parmesan and Almond Oil)















For our main entrees, French25fan ordered the Venison Chop (Medium-Rare)
















I ordered the New York Steak (Medium-Well) with "mac and cheese" The "mac and cheese" was made with 2 cheeses, one from London and a domestic cheese. It was a bit heavy and cheesy. The sauce was perfectly seasoned and the brocolli fresh and tasty!





















And for desert we had the Creme Brule on top of Raspberries. It was INCREDIBLE!!!






















Of all the 'fine dining' experiences I’ve had, this night at the Napa Rose was by far on the top! Saucy made it even better, and personally got offended when Frenchy didn't have a timely refill and didn't charge for the iced tea!!! The service, attitude, quality was well worth the tab!

Fabulous report my friend! You guys take a great picture, by the way! My wife and I have dinner plans at Wayne's @ Mission Inn for our 5th Wedding Anniversary on March 2 (where did those 5 years go, by the way???) Maybe, we'll have to try Napa Rose on March 3! Looks great!

When you arrived, did you have a chance to sit in the lounge or up at the bar? I love to start out that way. Gives me a chance to visit with the staff at the front and get settled in.

But my favorite thing to do at Napa -- and you don't even have to have dinner there to do this -- is go out on the patio and relax around the fire pit with a drink (or a cigar if you like) and watch passersby at DCA. Like the restaurant, it's sophisticated and quiet, but it's very enjoyable and is always a highlight of my visit to the park, and I highly recommend it. I've had some really great times out on that patio, both alone and with friends.

No, we didn't get a change to do that. It was pretty full and we didn't want to bother waiting around for a seat. We went into DCA for a few minutes instead.

Glad you had a wonderful time! And my favorite dessert....yum! Warmed up my Valentine's Day looking at your post, it's hailing here! You had an excellent server! I always order Riesling when I'm there, Saucy "recommended" some for me and I wouldn't change my wine the rest of the night.
