Why is an attraction not displayed as closed?

Why does the attraction board as you enter through the baggage check, not show that the Orange Stinger in DCA is closed? Could it mean that maybe it has already hit the chopping block?

It was completely gutted this past sunday. I suppose it's gone for good.

    Thank God...

    or Walt...

... or whomever is responsible for getting rid of the Orange Stinger. Let's just hope that Disney finishes the job and dismantles the orange, itself.

What's the orange stinger? I've only been to DCA once.

The Orange Stinger is a "ride" in Paradise Pier. It's a spinning swing ride inside the peel of an orange with the sound of bees buzzing as you go. When the ride opened in 2001, the swings all had little bee stingers attached to the swings so everyone had little stingers on their behind. They were removed not too long after.

I don't think it's gone, because I was looking at someone's photo report, might've been on Mousetimes, not sure, and the pics show that they have NEW orange peels or the outer structure pieces lying inside the current structure. The new peel is kind of striped. I'll try to find a pic later.

We can only hope that it is on the chopping block. I dont recall it getting the axe when I read Al's article. I remember reading that it was going to be upgraded so maybe it is getting a new name also

    An even better question is:

What is an orange doing at the beach?

They were removed BEFORE the park opened. I was at the preview for DCA in January and there was no sight of stingers or any shape of a bee on the seats.

That's weird... maybe my memories were acting up on me but I could have sworn I rode it with bee stingers.

And wasn't there originally an orange scent inside the orange? But they had to stop using it because it actually was attracting bees?

Yes it is. That is the point of the pier theme.

I think the giant California Orange is a charming thing to have a ride inside of. Even it if doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I enjoy flying around inside! Why all the hate of the Orange Stinger?
